Text and text boxes export as .jpg
I'm wondering if someone can give me some suggestions on what I might be doing wrong. I'll make a text box, put text and links in it, but when it's exported it exports as a .jpg. I'm not telling it to export as .jpg. It happens to me all the time on multiple pages and areas and I end up redoing the box so it's text again. Any thoughts? I'm sure it's something I'm doing but I just can't find it.
Re: Text and text boxes export as .jpg
Hello
Text boxes are exported as images if you rotate them even slightly.
This can also happen if you resize the text box when the 'lock aspect ratio' button is not turned on (it looks like a tiny padlock on the info bar). However, I believe this only happens on the original 5.0.0 version ... 5.0.1 went some way to preventing this.
If this happens, the only way I can see to fix it is to undo the offending action, or recreate the text box, and copy and paste the text.

Is the text over an image? This could be the cause. There were some problems with text repelling.
But as Rich pointed out, this has been addressed in the update.
Re: Text and text boxes export as .jpg
I'm using version 5.0.1.7886 and the text is not over an image, plain colored background. This is the site: http://www.michiganimaging.com/rotary/index.htm
First page I re-did, the rest are still images not text (until I get to changing them today). They were text but somehow changed. Is there any indication in XWD that this main box is exporting as .jpg and not text before I export and check it in a browser?
Re: Text and text boxes export as .jpg
Jim could you attach your .web file? It will be much easier to find the possible cause using your source file rather than seeing the end result.
Re: Text and text boxes export as .jpg
Jim did you group any of the text objects?
Re: Text and text boxes export as .jpg
Jim contacted me via email and it seems that adding drop shadows to the text was causing the export to jpg.
He is evaluating the changes I suggested.

Hey Jim, nice to see your Rotary site! You might find the Rotary site I made for my club interesting. You can find it here. (It wasn't made with Xara-WD). Good to know there are other Rotarians hanging out here at Talkgraphics.

Ross,
Thanks, it's getting there. Like your site also. Some text had drop shadows causing the problem.
