where are widgets found in the layer galley
I am an occasional user
Xara Designer Pro X 17.0.0.58732 DL x64 Mar 12 2020
( i think I paid for v18 - but never installed it = haha)
anyway
starting playing around to modify my site
and one of the widgets works on desktop but not on mobile
(I made no changes to the widget (either than adding the photos as designed))
I seem to recall this happened a couple of years ago
and I think I fixed it by removing the widget from group
problem - It does not seem to be part of a group
(if it is - how can I tell??)
'so,
I started to play around (ie learn) more
about the page and later gallery
(finally earned why some of my photos were never showing up when I cut and paste between variants
*found them in page background or pasterboard
found all my elements -
but none of the widgets
where are they hiding
ps
also found a lawyer called mask
doubt I ever did that on purpose?
what is it, how did I make it (did I?)
and can I delete it
it is marked red (ie locked and not visible)
THANKS
Re: where are widgets found in the layer galley
TD, a Xara photo Widget will appear in the MouseOff layer as a Placeholder.
If you copied it to a Variant, it is possible you put it into a hidden layer (MouseOver or even Mask).
As you found previously, even if visible on the Page or Pasteboard background, it might not work or show.
If you could advise which Widget you are using, i might be able to work out what is amiss.
If there is nothing in the Mask layer, you can delete it from the Page & Layer gallery.

Re: where are widgets found in the layer galley
I kept looking and looking and looking and looking
and found that it was in a group (that I made to move large blocks of text down)
to make room for a text block above
removed the 'group' and the animation started again
widget is called "cycle group 4"
and
found the HTML placeholder - THANKS -
it was hidden in a shadow group
(I expanded EVERY little thing to I found it!)

TD, I would have Ctrl+clicked on the Widget and with Locate enabled it would have opened all Groups down to the Placeholder.
Glad you found it.
