Thanks, Larry. Here's one made using a homemade "R". I modified it to match the background frame which is an upper case "I" from the Appareo Extras font. I then sliced out the texture from the frame and used it clipped inside the "R", to which I applied the Roughen Effect in Illustrator.
Bob.
Very good one Bob; thank you. I like that alot.
Thank you, Larry.
Here's the same homemade "R" again, this time I used The Astute Graphics Width Stamp tool in Illustrator to make the wavy pattern, which I clipped inside the letter.
For the frame I used the Phantasm plugin also from Astute Graphics, for the texture inside the frame. It doesn't just create halftone dots, but can also use symbols, text or lines.
Firstly I made a gradient mesh fill of greys for the frame, which means that when the effect is applied the result is a patchy effect, the darker greys give a darker result, and the lighter greys a paler one. I used lines for this texture, which I like a lot. Finally I applied a roughen effect in Illustrator.
Bob.
I really like that Bob, particularity at a smaller size. I like the patchiness of the wood frame. Even though I do not use anything other than Xara I appreciate your description of how you accomplished what you did. Most helpful.
Okay, here's my way out inclusion for this month ..........
I've got a few of these for you.
Thanks.
