Earlier today our family dog died. Dixie joined our family as a puppy and for close to 17 years old she was a faithful companion. I'm sure she'll live on in our memories and never be forgotten.

My condolences Ross
give my condolences to the family...losing a pet is heartbreaking!!
Jim
Sorry for your loss, losing a pet is absolutely heart breaking.
Stygg
Thanks Keith, Jim, and Stygg. Interesting how pets can become integral members of the family -- part of the "love network" we call "families".
Yikes! I just looked out the window. Here it is the 6th of June and we have some snowflakes falling. Temperature is 2 degrees celsius --- unseasonably cold. It was warm a few days ago. Hope that returns as I have plans to go canoeing in New Brunswick next week.
Its surprising how much can a pet leaving can be hard, especially dogs.
I'm sure Dixie had a great life !
Marc
My condolences Ross. It's always very hard loosing a dog.
Thanks Marc and Egg.
I'm sorry to hear that your dog has died, Ross. It is tough losing and old friend. I still remember the first pet I had, a budgie called Joey.
I can still remember him fondly sixty years on, even though the little bugger used to just sit in my head and crap all over it!
Best regards,
Bob.
Thanks Bob.
When I was a small child our family had a budgie too. It used to fly around and perch on the rim of my father's glasses. It would then bend over and look at him eye to eye. One year we went on vacation & left the budgie with family friends. When we returned from vacation we were surprised to discover the friends had taught the budgie to say "Jim's a rat". My father's name was Jim. From his glasses the budgie would look him in the eye and say "Jim's a rat. Jim's a rat". The budgie never learned any more sayings but my sisters & I had fun trying to teach it.
