Capturing lightning with a smart phone
In New Mexico this time of year we get a lot of dramatic thunderstorms. But trying to capture a photo of lightning is almost impossible. By the time you see it and press the shutter button the lightning is long gone.
So here's the secret. If the thunderstorm is active and the lightning is flashing every few seconds or thereabouts, just shoot a shot every second until you get lucky and get a shot. Then select and delete all the photos in which nothing happened.
My wife and I did this last night. Mary got 5 really good photos and I got 2 1/2 (in one photo the lightning was just starting).
Re: Capturing lightning with a smart phone
Good tip, thanks, and a good shot. Will try next time.

Thanks for sharing the tip. The shot is perfect and I know the hard work behind it.
Moreover, I will suggest trying burst mode as it can take several pictures and the
lightning will be captured easily.
