How can I put a day countdown on a site ..... is there a script I could use
Thanks
Mike
Thanks for that ....but I did google it and the only one that looked any good was $24...... was hoping someone would have a recommended one I could use .
Mike
IOW, you want someone to find a free script for you and to know what looks good to you so that you don't have to??
My crystal ball is being serviced right, so how about you at least show us an example of 'what looks good' please :)
Forget it....... wish I never asked .
but thanks for the reply .
have a nice day.
Well I have used this: http://countdownjs.org/.
Free but you have to be handy at CSS.
Have a look at http://codegeekz.com/jquery-countdown-timer-plugins/.
You have to understand the approach to adding code, scripts and HTML tags into Xara application Placeholders, so not for the faint-hearted.
Acorn
Thank you for your Helpful reply....... there is some nice looking countdowns there ...... not sure I can get to grips with the code/CSS side but has given me a start.
Thank you again .
Mike
Mike, I was in a brazen mood - don't take my humor personally, I've helped you out many times before haven't I :)
My point was, your original post didn't give us much to go on but there were several free candidates in the google results I posted. Your second post made it even harder because you then told us only one looked any good. You could have linked to that one so we'd know what looks good to your eyes.
I think giving more information about what you are looking for by way of an example helps us help you, otherwise it's just random?
Well I did search on google and they were all cheap tacky looking other than one I saw which was at a cost ...... You have helped me out more times than I can remember
and I'm sure you didn't mean to be unhelpful ..... just Brazen,.... lol...... anyway I accept your apologies ..... lol .....(joking).
Trouble is Steve we only see text and no emotion on here ...... the site I want the countdown on is www.anglianbodybuilding.co.uk
and the countdown looks crap .... lol
And the ones that Acorn suggested are nice but bit complicated for me ...
Thanks for your explaination....ha ha
Mike :D
yes you might be right ...maybe I'm to close to it ..... its a bodybuilding show that I run with my daughter and son-in-law... so will leave it as it is .
Ha ha ha .... I said it looks crap and you go on to say it suits the rest of the page ......Ha ha ha ha .... I don't think you meant it like that ....DID you ??? lol
Cheers.
Mike
I use this to good effect
Thanks ...I have seen that site and it looks good
Mike
Here's a very simple script that can be modded through CSS changes quite easily: Attachment 106629
The Placeholder box has three components:
- Name of timer
- Code calls in Placeholder body.
- CSS styling in Placeholder head.

I don't think a countdown accurate to the second but on display at 95 days is going to build much excitement. If you really have to have it why not just show ' X days to go' until you are much closer to the time?
You have some typos Mike:
'Entry form' button.
'Competitors info' should really be 'Competitor info'.
I find the pages pretty hard to read, but that's pretty common for this genre of website!
[ I'd also add that watching a countdown ticking off seconds is pretty boring (it's only interesting in the last couple of minutes). If you ditch the seconds, people have to wait in anticipation of the minute changing. Before you tell me that it works for '24' that's only because they only have a few moments to build the countdown tension. ]
Thanks for the Typos Pauland....... and your views ......I know it not that easy to read but they like it .... I get overruled....and they like the countdown ...lol.
only changed the typo changes and it uploads the whole site ..... takes for ever .
Thanks Acorn for your simple countdown .
Mike
only changed the typo changes and it uploads the whole site
I think you were given the solution to that problem in another thread, weren't you?
What I am posting a link for is not the countdown. I wonder if you couldn't do something like this while the countdown runs below. You wouldn't want clocks, other graphics. Just a thought. Just watch the clock. https://www.jerrys-furniture.com/howard_miller.htm Not relevant? - please ignore.
Mike this should suite you just fine. https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_countdown.asp
