Google Search Widget Problem

Hi all - anyone have any experience with the Google Custom Search Widget?
Tried it, and want to use the 'hover' in 'look and feel' options.

Problem is when I tried to use that as an option, when you go to my site, a white page comes up automatically (mimicking the search result hover), before the site is even accessed. I have to click the x in the white box to get to the page. This should be appearing at the onset/result of a search. Spent all day putting up/taking down :( I've removed it for now, as I don't want the general public to see the snafu but really hope there is an easy fix to this as I want to use the widget.....
