Re: Free Silverlight ZoomTool for your WD website
These are all excellent and creative solutions. Charles's solution of opening the photo in a new window (pop-up?) is the simplest.
Thanks.
Re: Free Silverlight ZoomTool for your WD website
Silverlight is very slick. This is a pretty cool tool.
Edit: some criticisms: Pfff...15,000 pixel limit per photo. It's too easy to lose your photos (especially after zooming in to 10^(huge number) and back out. Plus the 'mass' of dragging photos is too large. Although it is beta.
Re: Free Silverlight ZoomTool for your WD website
Is it a good idea to dl/install Microsoft Silverlight or not? I am trying to decide. Is it necessary? Is it desirable?
Re: Free Silverlight ZoomTool for your WD website
Hi Bob,
Silverlight is another browser plugin similar to the Adobe Flash player. It won't hurt your system or take more resources.
Silverlight version 2 is the latest. http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx?v=2.0
Silverlight in newer technology and seems to offer more for a web application developer. http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight...evelopers.aspx
Microsoft Expression Blend 2 and Expression Web 2 can work with Silverlight. http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight...designers.aspx
There is a Software Development Kit (SDK) available. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
And Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2008. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

AH ha. Just discovered this thread. Just what I was looking for.
DeepZoomPix has ended but you can go to:
http://www.seadragon.com
Type in the location of your big picture and it generates a snippet that works well in Xara.
It seems that the zoom type file is stored on their servers though.
