Re: These logos need better typography!
Had some more time to play so Improved on my previous ones.
Mug: same fonts but created an overlapping design that looks good both in colour and black and white. There used to be a coffee shop in the nearby city back in the late 70's called the Mug N' Muffin so I couldn't resist playing with adding the N' Muffin to the logo.
Bowtie: I did a name change and had some fun playing with the Desire font. Black Tie seemed like a better name and I tried to create a balance of formal and fun
Re: These logos need better typography!
+10, Frances. Improvisation, making your own rules...excellent results.
The Mug 'n' Muffin looks especially appetizing/attractive!
Looks like you spent quality time on type-fitting The Black Tie, too!
Marvelous use of fonts. Exemplary!

Re: These logos need better typography!
Switched the bow tie from catering to outfitters! For Bow Tie, I used Great Vibes reg. and for Bespoke Tailors, I used CAC Champagne.

@ stygg—
I like the typography, but your design leaves something to be desired, sorry! Look at it for a few moments and can you see where your eye leads you?
Nowhere. Please arrange the elements so that the focus of the logo is the name.
does this make any sense? I have not had coffee yet.

Re: These logos need better typography!
Moved main text to Bow Tie and moved who they are closer, so your not scanning up and down as before in my last post, kept all black and white.

Aces, Stygg; you nailed it, man.
Now, let's take a look at more logos...and bad typography, and quite frequently, bad logo itself!:

Look at more? Heck, I just did the Bow Tie one listening to Muzak while on hold...
Bow tie had been done elegantly by Frances. So here's a not-so-much elegance.

Oh, does this place have the polka dot, squirting ones? And a matching flower lapel?

Re: These logos need better typography!
I did think (briefly) about using a crazy-looking clown rising up from behind the bow tie's center and widen the type apart. But then I thought it would take too much effort for the time I had. Might have another go if one of the new batch of logos doesn't catch my eye first.
Re: These logos need better typography!
Your instincts served you well, and better than mine!
I was just clowning around, sorry!
