Hi all
I’m not sure if this is possible,
I have a page with a visible layer on it
layer 1
would it be possible to click a button on the main page
to show another layer, layer 2 and have layer 1 disappear
and have layer 1 return by clicking elsewhere on the page.

Ah, I bet you want to know how. Sorry.
The layer that is visible on the page is on the page. Hence it is visible and not really a layer.
The button links to a new layer which covers the material beneath it (what you are referring to as the visible layer), and shows the desired content. When the visitor click off the layer the layer closes.
If I hear you right, you get to where you want to click a button once and do two things: open one or more layers and close one or more others, all from one click.
See the Tweak for Locking Popups. It's in a Tweakset for ver 5, but I use it fine in version 7.

gwpriester, I think the Locking Popups from Tweakset 5 might do the trick,
i.e close 1 popup and open another, if I can just get my head round it.

In the grey box, I would like a picture/text (new layer) then clicking on
“Rock Climbing, Kite Surfing, Mountain Biking or Motor Biking.
The new picture/text layer would close and the relevant layer would open.
Hope this makes sense, not really a web page designer as you can probably tell, just a newbe.
