We know how to do buttons, but here's a challenge to come up with a nav bar that is less conventional.
So create a small site, and create a unique nav bar. Give Xara a workout.

I love it Gary. Do's that need to be done with web designer or pro, if it do's I do not have the software.
Any flavor of Xara.
OK Thanks Gary.
Two for the price of one. One quite subtle the other not so much.

Chris M - heh heh. Awesome!
One bar, two Variants, three flavours: Attachment 123776.
Acorn
Wow! Very colorful, Acorn.
Any other breakthrough nav bar designers out there?
See if this one works http://gwpriester.com/fortune/index.html
Since this is a learning and sharing forum, I have attached my file.
Very clever Gary. Although, I expected nothing less ...
So passing the torch to you Keith. :)
This is what I did, but tried to do a mouse on and mouse off in a old version of pro but I have no idea how to do the mouse on and mouse off, so did some thing ln XP&TGD v16,

You could use the Rotate Fade Web Animation Larry and then link to # so the action takes place when we preview the page.
Here's my attempt. Not a serious navbar just one that demonstrates using animated gifs in the mouse-over state. Not sure the xar file will contain the animated gifs but I'll attach it here.
DEMO
The animated GIF is not working in any of my browsers, Egg. I have not tried it in Chrome because Chrome always adds .pup files which Malwarebytes does not like.
Is there a way you can do what you are trying to do with Web Animation options?
Do they work if you click on the DEMO button Gary?
Try this Larry http://gwpriester.xara.hosting/wizard/
Egg - Yes, they work when I click the DEMO button.
Thanks GP, works like a charm
Thanks Gary, here's another one that uses animated gifs on both mouse-off and mouse over layers. Not to my liking but worth an experiment.
DEMO
Egg - Does not appear to be a nav bar that will encourage follow up visits. :)
Mammoth Boring & Bland http://gwpriester.com/mammoth/
Totally agree Gary. It was just an experiment in trying to use two animated gifs as buttons. Far from simple and open to all sort of designer errors ;)Quote:

I really like the MBB one, very effective.
here's another method:

Awesome! That's that SVG animation?
That's correct Gary. Again a bit OTT but a good exercise. I think it looks far better on a mobile than on a desktop.
