Effects?
I am trying to imitate a laser writing into say.......a piece of metal, then the letters left behind spelling the company logo. Do you think this could be accomplished with the new flash tools in Pro? I am running out of upgrade time and still trying to decide if the money is worth it right now. I don't want to miss an opportunity, but......the kids like to have Christmas too. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Effects?
Hi Dave,
I think it would be possible. It would depend on how photo realistic you want to achieve, Flash doesn't support some of Xara Xtreme's best features.
I have to wrap up for the day and make my hour commute home. I'll see what I can do after getting home.

Re: Effects?
Dave I've been having fun all evening :D
I had to regroup and correct some errors I made, but I think this is a 'fair' example. No where near perfect, but when is any project ever completed? Always have to say it's ready to post, before spending years tweeking ;)
This is a basic frame by frame animation, no tweening. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off using tweening :o

Amazing!!!
Wow, that was fast!!! And with quite amazing results! You wouldn't happen to get commision would you, because you might have just convinced me to move forward with this. Thanks, this is great!! Just shows the capabilities of this software also.
Any chance of a short tutorial. Not sure how you get the laser to follow the letters.

Re: Effects?
I'm not a Xara Group Ltd employee, so no commission :)
I'll work on a tutorial over the next few days. Tutorials take much longer to do than creating the original image.
An old saying: a picture is worth a thousand words. A tutorial takes a thousand words or more to explain the picture ;)

Re: Effects?
I didn't figure you were an employee. I was just kidding! I will definitely be looking forward to the tutorial. Please don't stress out doing it though, I have some time. Thanks again.

Re: Effects?
I thought Raymond would beat you to it on this one Bill , but you got there first and very good it is too. I look forward to the tutorial.

Re: Effects?
Thanks Dave, Sally, and Norman.
I'll start on the tutorial this evening after work.
I just opened the .xar file here at work and realise that I used a font that may not be on many people's computer. My work computer doesn't have the font
I used a new sans serif font named Calibri that is part of the Windows Vista and Office 2007 installation.
Sorry! :o
I'll remember to convert fonts to shapes for the tutorial and upload a new .xar file.
