how long since you rebooted your computer - are there any windows or security software updates inpending or in progress - chances are it's a windows issue and reboot is first thing to try - but no guarantees...

At times computer goes to sleep and hard drive goes to sleep mode, possibly that can be the problem. Will check with other things as well. Thx.
