How do disable update expiry notice in DPX16
I remember in previous threads where if your DPX16 update service expired, an annoying popup appears every time you stated DPX16 that you cannot disable.
There is a way to prevent this from appearing using the Windows firewall.
Create an outgoing rule that blocks C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\16\DesignerPro.exe from accessing IP address 163.172.175.38.
I have created outgoing rule called "Designer Pro (Block update service)"
I have also created two scripts - one that enables the rule and the other that disables the rule (allowing DPX to access Magix servers)
My command that enables the rule is:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name="Designer Pro (Block update service)" new enable=yes
My command that disables the rule is:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name="Designer Pro (Block update service)" new enable=no
I hope this helps to get rid of the pesky DPX16 update popup.

blocking the .EXE file cures the issue - stops me accessing the OCC but i don't use it; ditto website stuff
if your routine blocks only the update then I can see that being useful

OCC (I'm assuming that means Online Content Catalogue) is inaccessible anyway if the service has expired. Anyway, this should have been downloaded locally before expiry.
The fix blocks DPX exe from accessing that one IP address only. All other addresses don't get blocked. This allows FTP uploads from within DPX to your own hosting server to still work.
The script provides an easy way to unblock if needed.

thanks :)
I use third party firewall also easy to toggle

Just a note. This rule also (seems) to affect the startup speed which has been affecting X customers, myself included. Startup is a couple seconds without the long "Adding colors" issue.
