Macro for Windows 10 settings?
Is there any app or way to create a macro to turn certain Windows settings on and off.
My wife would like to participate in Zoom meetings but does not want to leave the camera and microphone enabled on her laptop when not in a Zoom meeting.
And she just can't remember how to change these settings in Windows Settings.
Re: Macro for Windows 10 settings?
I don't think there is a simple way to do that, but you could place a shortcut on the desktop to open the settings page for the camera directly.
Right click on desktop.
New > Shortcut.
Enter: cmd /c "start ms-settings:privacy-webcam"
Click next.
Enter a name for the shortcut, for example: CamSettings
Click finish.
Re: Macro for Windows 10 settings?
on a side note - if you dsiable the microphone on current windows 10 you will not be able to record anything on the computer - ie you will not be able to capture sound even though no microphone is involved
back in the day we used masking tape for the camera, and plugged a mute jack into the mic socket just to be sure, no good with a built in mic of course
Re: Macro for Windows 10 settings?
Windows will record system macros. If the mic and camera are "apps" then the macro can toggle them. The steps for a Windows macro can be googled. Be sure to use a Windows 10 macro and not an MS Office macro.

Thanks. This gives me a good starting point.
Re: Macro for Windows 10 settings?
Type mic into the search box
Click Choose Which Apps Can Use My Microphone
Toggle global off or on or toggle individual apps
