I've Improved...My New Car Austin Seven Nippy
With a lot of determined effort and inspiration from this forum, I now have a new car. :D I did the flags as well in Xara. It's not that hard to do just very tricky when you don't know how. ;) I have shelved Paint Shop Pro for a while. Thanks to Ron for his guidance. Maybe I will try something else next or are you guys ok with cars???
I am really "chuffed" everybody (happy, pleased) It is much better than my first one. Thanks for all the inspiration and kind comments.

Great image Barry!
Those spokes look like they took a very long time to create.

Re: I've Improved...My New Car Austin Seven Nippy
Yes they did seeing that I have never created spokes before. That is the great thing about Xara - - - once you know what it can do you can apply the principals to anything. I had varions versions of those wheels, I was merrily going along (I used a refrence image to create the car) and made the wheels and suddenly realised they were not red!! So I had to re-do them all over again. Then the problem came in that I could not remember how I made the spokes to sort of make some kind of pattern. So I just came up with a new wheel and in red. I clicked twice on the wheel to get the rotation handles and spin the wheel around - - - gee - - - are they off balance!! Did not notice while the car was stationery! I have attached my other wheel so that you can compare. I like the spoke pattern on that one. Maybe someone has some hints on creating geometric spoke patterns for wheels??? Please..........:)
Thinking about it now - - - I should have used the quickshape Star tool with many (I mean many points) and criss-crossed them to give me some kind of pattern to work on. I had to keep guessing about the degree of the angle to turn them, then I had this idea and then that idea and in the back of my mind I once did a tut where you had to clone and twist something by 32 degrees all the time, but that did not help in this case. Well I have a new set of wheels for another car already prepared. But maybe someone can give me a tip on how to space them out evenly - - - if you look closely you will see that they are not 100% equally spaced around the wheel - but I will keep playing till I get it right and then I will fix my wheels!!
I just cannot get the hang of the named colurs and tints of colurs (yet anyway) but I have just seen Egg's vid tut and I am sure that will help. I am too tired to concentrate now as I was playing motor car motor car, till 3am this morning!! (and then all day today. . . most if the day anyway and it is now 11.01 pm).
Thanks for your post.
Regards
Barry
Re: Another Xara Car - Much Nicer Than My First
Nice Car Barry. Keep em coming!
Re: I've Improved...My New Car Austin Seven Nippy
Barry I merged your thread from the Xtreme forum with this one in the Xara Gallery.
The Xtreme forum is where questions about using the program are most appropriate and the Xara Gallery is for displaying your work for comments.

Nice job Barry and I like your spokes especially on the wheel on the left.

Re: I've Improved...My New Car Austin Seven Nippy
The easiest way to make spokes is
1.to create one good looking spoke.
2. Group all the objects that make up the spoke together.
3. Double click on the group so ya see the rotation handles.
4. Moved the crosshairs for the center of the object to the exact center of your wheel
5. Rotate and drop your spokes where you want em...
* If ya want em acurately placed, (Cntrl-K) and type in your degrees to rotate.

One way I've done it, Barry. Don't know if you'll like it though. Also, a second example with a different look. The spokes are angles and there are more of them.
LOVE your car! It looks like a car that would appear in an ad from the same era.

Sorry,
I forgot some time ago I did a little tut on this. Take a look, it may or may not help. Obviously, there are different approaches you can take.
