Keith, apart form the colouring, the same as I initially presented, albeit I stated 4 cuts and latterly corrected to 3.

I was hoping for a sleight of hand somewhere.
Here is one suggestion:

If you scissor cut from top left to bottom right, you get two pieces.
If you cut bottom left to centre and then top right to centre, you have a total of three cuts and four equal pieces.
To get the accurate shapes in Xara, I used the square and four circles the same diameter as the side of the square all centred on a corner and therefore touching in the square's centre.
The result is four unneeded semi-circles and eight pieces. If you pair (Add) adjacent pieces and colour, you get the four equal parts.
