Did you do some burning to get the background so dark? Very moody.

yes, I did some burning on the top and side. Did a little dodging on the lighter tree after the burning in.
you brought the tree out very well too and the balance with the benches really works :)
Following from the above...as does the stark contrast.
I like the photo, but, although there are strong shadows the scene doesn't feel sunny, at least the colors are not.
