Great post worth reading as a Xara user: "Why Aren’t You Using SVG?"
Hi,
You are probertly exporting your graphics as jpg, png or gif when you use Xara products for creating graphical elements for the web. Even the export from Xara to HTML will create PNG, GIF or JPG even if browsers support the vector based format SVG. The current status of support for SVG in browsers is that it is not working if you use an Internet Explorer < IE9 or an Android < version 3. (Older versions of firefox or chrome will normally be auto opgraded so in theory they will vanish through time...).
You should read this blog post: http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/wh...you-using-svg/ - "Why Aren’t You Using SVG?".
See here an example here: http://screencast.com/t/jepOF7st
Well, I am a happy man and I hope to start using Xara Designer Pro X for generating SVG based graphics, and perhaps Xara should consider adding an option to the export to HTML where you can choose to export graphics as SVG? :-)

Unfortunately there is no concensus between browsers as to how to render SVG. Also different drawing applications generate different xml like text and may not include some SVG specifications.

This link has some svg images created in five different drawing applications: http://btaylor.50megs.com/svg-test2/index.htm
The page was made a few years ago to test the viability of the SVG format. The top row uses Object code for the svg images, the middle row uses Embed code for the images, and the bottom row uses Img code for the images.
View the page using your installed browsers to see how they are displayed.

Hi Soquili,
I decided to do a test on the SVG page you have entered. I am using a website which allows you to test various browsers, it is called "browserstack.com". My test I wrote a blog post about and put it in my dropbox here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3260327/blo...platforms.html
The post needed some special HTML so I could not post here to talkgraphics.
Please read it and comment, if you like :-)

Nicely done Sten. More browsers are including support for the SVG format and the variation made by different drawing applications.
