Nest building Chestnut Munia

A pair of these birds are building a nest outside our window and at two other locations in the garden, so that the female will get a choice.

I am a fan of the bird photographs captured by TimS and I am now aware of how difficult taking them must be.

Cool. What kind of bird is this? Not one I have seen in my part of the US.

Gary, I think that Chestnut Munias are a type of finch.
Unfortunately, one of them was found dead this morning, with no visible signs of damage.
