Now when it inserts it into my my front page i get the following html code
<html>
<head>
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>New Page 1</title>
<base target="main">
</head>
<body>

</body>
</html>
Why does it now show the menus I put in?

Hi Booneyhead,
I would do a search of your computer for the first menu name.js. I would imagine menumaker saved it in a place where FP could not find it. Or when you went to look for it, front page had the file name but not the location on your hard drive. Looks like you have to save your menu in the same place as your webpage or in a subfolder under it.
Should save it in c:/webpages or c:webpages/somesubfolder, not in C:/program files/xara/menu amker/drafts/of today 2jan2005/justbecause/. FP is probably not saving that other location information... thus it can not find it. Try opening the original menu and saving it to your webpage folder... See if it is visible then... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I am about to go insane!!!!
Ok. I tried to use the Xara Menu maker without FrontPage this time, and when I was done with my menu, under the "save" button you have the option "browser preview" and when I click on this one it opens a browser window with my made menu. The only thing is, it is not linked to anything (but I linked everything to their html pages)and the submenu does not open either. So, it can't be FrontPage. But what is it?
OH PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON ME...
I even tried to insert the .js files manually into Frontpage through add Web content...but it did not work at all this way...
Can't you come over for a little while and show it to me http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Just kidding. I wish that would be an option...lol.
It drives me insane. I wanted my page to look cool with the new menu... and now it does not work..

Booneyhead,
Give this a try...
1. Open up your website in FrontPage
2. Create a new FOLDER and name it x_menu
3. Open up the web page (.htm) where you want to insert menu
a. Within the web page (.htm), click where you want to insert menu
b. On FrontPage menu…
select INSERT >
XARA MENU MAKER >
NAVBAR & MENUS
4. Xara MenuMaker application should start up automatically
5. Create the Menu you want
6. When done, click on SAVE
7. Click on NEW PROJECT and give it a name
8. Click on SAVE GRAPHIC
9. Open up the SAVE IN: box and locate where your website is saved and select the x_menu FOLDER (the one you created in step # 2)
10. Click on SAVE
11. Xara MenuMaker application should close and your website should be re-opened in FrontPage with your menu inserted.
GOOD LUCK

if all else fails and you can not get menu maker to work on its own, then I would imagine you have a bad install. Do not worry, it takes about 5 minutes to uninstall and reinstall MM and all the template packs, (if you have them handy, ie downloaded).
If Zee's suggestion does not work. Close FP, then open MM by itself. thow together a quickie menu and "save it" then make sure you have a .html and .js named with whatever you called it. If you do, then make sure you have the xaramenu.js file in the same directory and 2 graphics for every button in the main menu.
for example, if you had a 4 button bar and had saved it as loricanon then your files should look like this...
loricanon_b2_over.gif
loricanon_b4_over.gif
loricanon_b3_over.gif
loricanon_b1_over.gif
loricanon_b3.gif
loricanon_b4.gif
loricanon_left.gif
loricanon.html
loricanon.js
loricanon_right.gif
loricanon_b1.gif
loricanon_b2.gif
xaramenu.js
Every time I play with MM, the menu uses the last setup that was loaded. Mine always preloads my loricanon text, links etc. If you are not seeing anything, maybe it might be best to reload MM...
If you are seeing a toolbar in the preview, then MM has actually already created a temporary menubar for you. It is located at the address in your address bar... For example, it might be something simular to this...
C:\Documents and Settings\John Rayner\Local Settings\Temp\XMM\preview38.htm
preview38.htm is the temp name of all the parts...
Directory of C:\Documents and Settings\John Rayner\Local Settings\Temp\XMM\
Filename
preview38_b2.gif
preview38_b4.gif
preview38_b3.gif
preview38_b3_over.gif
preview38_b1_over.gif
preview38_b4_over.gif
preview38_b2_over.gif
preview38_l.gif
preview38.htm
preview38.js
preview38_top.gif
preview38_bottom.gif
preview38_b1.gif

I am having a similiar problem. I use Dreamweaver MX2004 and use templates to update my site. I can create a standard menu fine and it works fine. When I add a sub-menu it does not work. Here are the steps I take:
modify template in \template
insert MM
opens up MM
make modifications
save\exit
save template
modifies all pages that use template
upload all pages and new images for menu.
Images are in \images\nav.
Only one .js file in there, the other one (xaramenu.js) is back in my template folder. OK so I upload that one too. When looking at my updated page it does not display ANY menu. This is a side menu and my page extensions are .asp. I have unistalled MM and DW extensions and reinstalled to no avail. What else could it be?

xaramenu.js does not change no matter how many times you modify the template/menu. The menu should be called by the .asp/.htm/.html. That .js file has the calls for the main menu and the data for the submenu. Check and make sure your template is calling the menu.js. then make sure your images are in the proper directory/subdirectory. After that, make sure xaramenu.js is called for the submenus.
Post a link to what you have and I will take a look. Can not help you more with the infomation you have provided.

Moving xaramenu.js to root web cleared everything up. Thanks for your help.

No Problem, Hope I helped...

Thank you sooo much John!!! In your last post concerning my problem, you mentioned to uninstall the MM. I don't know why I have not thought of it (That is usually the first thing I do when something does not work right). It works now!!! And the whole time I thought I was just plain stupid. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
For some reason the links don't work in Frontpage, but when I loaded the page with IE, it works just fine!!! I hope it will work too, when I finally finnished making the page and want to upload it.....
Again, I want to thank you for staying with me and not giving up!!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
