need simple software for dimension
need simple software for dimension
should be little more comfortable like Xara,
ideally like CorelDraw X6 but less expensive.
dont wann pay 600€ for just one function.
i need
scaling
rounding, no need for 125,25cm (not possible in Xara, right?)
possibilty for small 20cm in same size (see picture :-)

rs3, your XDA already does most of this:
Attachment 128629
Control Panel > Clock and Region > Region > Additional settings:
To get a Comma as the Decimal Separator, you change the decimal symbol through MS Windows. You can type in any symbol or even use Character Map.
The Number of digits after the decimal point can also be set in the same form. I use three; Xara's default is two.
If you pick a comma, you need to change Digit grouping symbol away from a comma. I tried a tick buy again you can use any symbol.
In my example, I used a Scale Factor of 1cm to 20m and created a line of a random metre length with 3 digits after the decimal point, which I entered as a comma and even as a full stop; both returned a comma.
Mixing units on the page for the 20cm line is harder.
I input the reverse value to get the right line then. This produced a spurious number and dimension which I over types with 20cms. The 's' locks the line so if you change its length the value remains.
Inkscape clearly does the job and is free. It all depends if your drawings need dynamic changes. If so stick with Xara for those and copy and paste the Inkscape shapes for the static parts.

Acorn, you say XDA default is 2. My question is can this be changed to 3 etc.?

Yes, just do what I said for the Number of digits after decimal...
...it is a Windows function that Xara uses.

Re: need simple software for dimension
What file types do you want to dimension?
Or do you just want to draw and dimension like a free CAD system.

I really would never have looked there!
thanks a lot!
but unfortunately of course also the shown dimension in status line etc do change,
i will see if i can live with it ...
