Re: Cup of coffee?
Hi Thor,
the reflection can't be this way in reality. You can study the reflection of a object, if you render a example scene with your 3D graphics editor or (easier) put your object on a mirror (or a glass plate) and make a photo with your digital camera.
This is a quick reference picture from a 3D graphics editor:

Re: Cup of coffee?
Thanks for the explanation. I think I understand pretty well now how reflection works thanks to you guys.
I see now that I have to draw this reflection to get it right.. shame their ain't no quick way to get it like in a 3D software
I whish their was a tool we could use in Xara to do this quickly :D
I will give it a try when I have a little bit more time ... thanks again for all the greate help!!

Re: Cup of coffee?
Nothing wrong with using 3D software as a guide Thor.
Have you tried Googlesketchup? The free version is easy to use and outputs line-drawings, though not as vector (I think, maybe others know different) and at quite a low res, but for working out tricky perspective, it's great.
Though the idea of 3D layers is not daft (other programs have them), I think it is unlikely in Xtreme, at least in the near future LOL!
This is interesting, but perhaps of limited use; http://blip.tv/file/358735
Don't be downhearted anyway, this is still a very good illustration and the reflection is only the 'icing', so to speak.

Re: Cup of coffee?
I meant to ask you Thor... who did ytou design this for? Because I saw the same exact coffee maker and cup on an ad in my local food store.... (I should have grabbed a copy)

Re: Cup of coffee?
I didn't do these designs for anyone but for me actually .. the only purpose of it is to improve my skills and become a better graphic designer. What I usually do is I chose a picture that I like on the net, I vectorise it and then I try to make a nice background for it .. that's all. :D
I whish I could get paid some day for this kind of work .. I enjoy it so much :D

Re: Cup of coffee?
Ahhh, but keep in mind... once you begin to get paid for it.... it becomes "work":D
and once in a while... you get those rather "persistent / pesky, and picky" clients:rolleyes:
