Modifying drawing accuracy in Illustrator
I work in CAD and often receive AI files from clients.
The downside is that I work in .001" accuracy for our CNC equipment
and many files I receive are less accurate. This plays out in the form
of broken lines, radius corners made of several intersecting lines,
fragmented circles etc. Typically I have to simply redraw whatever the
client has spec'd based on whatever dimensional information is called out.
' groan '
My question is this : If I purchase AI, can I open these files and
correct these issues by changing some accuracy setting ? Or, are
most graphic's apps established at say .015", making the problem is
systemic and without recourse ?
Thank you.

Re: Modifying drawing accuracy in Illustrator
In the transform palette you can modify and reposition, down to the third decimal place, if that info helps. Also if I can remember correctly there is a plugin produced by a company, which I can;t remember who produce a programme which will allow you use various tools not available in AI to prroduce highly accurate drawings but again if I remember correctly if you add up the two costs you nearly reach the cost of Auto cad lt.

Just knowing it can be done is a great help.
Thank you.
