I cannot readily locate how to take an image, drawing or photograph, and invert it so it is a "negative". I have a black and white drawing that I want to invert so the black areas are white, and the white areas are black. I am using Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 6 (and Xara Web Designer 7 Premium) in order to do this. I am sure it is an easy fix! Any suggestions or how to's would be great! :D

Hi Margaret, welcome to Talkgraphics.
To make a "negative" use the Live Effects Tool when you have a photograph selected. If you want to apply the effect to vector objects create a bitmap copy and with the copy selected apply the Live Effect.
The negative live effect will work on a group of vector objects with out needing to convert to bitmap copy first.

if its a black and white drawing, I'd just set contone dark color white and then contone light color black [in default setup thats a right click on the colorbar] - saves getting a 'bitmap effect'
The only time I have ever done this I used the live effects negative and that worked like a charm. Handrawn, I'll have to try your method to see how I like that.Quote:

And the process is non-destructive. If you want to get back to the original, just remove the Live Effect.

incidently if you only have two colors and you prefer to use the contone method that is not destructive either - you can just change it back
