I'm with some problemas and I dont know if this inssue happens because its not complete or because my lack of experience.
I drew a simple retangle and make the edges rounded, but i dont found anything to block the rounded style to not change when I strain or compress that retangle, any suggestion?

The rectangle will compress the rounded corners when you compress / scale it. The solution is to convert the rectangle to Editable Shape (In the Arrange drop down menu) You can now use the shape editor tool to select the nodes (say all those on the right hand side) and move them either by Ctrl dragging or with the arrow keys.

Woww... I don't believe that a aplication like these don't have this opition, it's remembering me the C*rel one XD , hey programmers that a look at the inkscape method it's simple and solve the problem.
what can be simpler than what egg states? AND it's editable - you don't have to do all corners - just one or some

What's the problem? The whole operation takes a matter of seconds. If you want to see a hard way, look here
@egg: As far as I see (I don't no xara for more than some days) the problem is that it isnt possible to resize the rounded corners after converting them to editable shapes. In Inkscape there is an option for choosing "scale corners" yes/no and "scale outline" yes/no. This is a very handy feature.

The inability to lock the aspect ratio of corners when squashing rectangles (or other objects) has been something that Xtreme users have wanted for a long time!
People have worked around it in various clever ways but we recognise that it would be a good feature to have and is exactly the kind of thing that prompted us to make Xara LX open source.
If you're interested in adding a "Scale corners" option to Xara LX, please head on over to www.xaralx.org and get involved in the development effort.
BTW, noskule: There is a "Scale linewidths" option on the Selector tool's Infobar.

There still is a "strange" behvior in the current version. If I draw a rectangle, push the "rounded corner" option everything works okey. But if I draw a rectangle AND change the dimensions and use the curve option the rounded corner gets allredy disstorted. I testd this only on linux so, couldnt doublecheck . . ... seams not a logical behavoir . . . ..
Same on Windows.
What seems to happen is that the curve is applied to the rectangle as you originally drew it, then the change in dimensions is applied to that, thereby distorting it. Yes, it's pretty annoying, but others have already explained how to work around it. AFAIK it's always been this way from the very first version.

I need to compare with another program, sory xara team, well, Corel Draw has the same problem, it's seems that when you deform a shape you don't loose the original form, it's just showed distorted on the screen. I way to solve that is actualy change the shape structure and make the rounded edges based on circles (logical hum) whith a variable width, the Corel aplication work it in a interesting way, it make all the 4 corners of the shape editable and each one may take a circle with a diferent width making a cool effect.
Even more bizarrely, if you just draw a rectangle (with no rounded corners), then distort it (change a short fat rectangle into a tall thin one for instance), THEN add the rounded corners, the corners are distorted. You'd think when the corners are added they'd be at a sensible aspect ratio...

The quickshapes are defined in a square orthogonal coordinate space then tranformed into the drawing so that complex shapes like stars with recurved edges (and rounded corners) can be plotted easily.
Rectangles are just special cases of quickshapes and inherit some of their behaviour.
(Didn't you invent the data structure for quickshapes?)

If you are familiar with SolidWorks, I think what some users here are requesting is called "parametric behavior".
The regulars on the Xara X forums are famous for their work-arounds, but this is the Xara LX forum! This is where I hope we expand/streamline Xara, not work-around.
What lacks here is the ability to deform a rectangle with rounded corners, and still be able to retain the fillet radius, or even modify the fillet radius after the deformation!
SolidWorks is a master at this, but I would only recommend seeking inspiration from it for the feature set, because there is not much to be gained from looking at the UI implementation.
With this said, I'd like to side with the users who wants an option to prevent the deformation of the fillet (rounded corners) when the rectangle is deformed.
Actually, it is the same with rotations of simple objects, and I have mentioned this before: Rotate anything by X degrees and after the next transformation/deformation, the X value is lost forever. It shouldn't be. It should be parametric so you can keep track of your modifications! (Same with scale, for that matter...)

Something that could be useful could be an option to manipulate the corner vertices independently but symmetrically about all corners of the object e.g. by holding shift while dragging a vertex etc. This would allow for manual control of the aspect ratio. I don't know, am I the only one that can do this. Maybe there is a fluke in my machine but I can do this in both xtreame and X W D. I am including an image to show that I have both pulled and extended a rounded square with no distortion. Using the rectangle tool I just have to grap the external handels on the four corners and do as I wish.
If I am the only person that can do this because of some fluke, all I can say is WOW, great for me..........to bad for the rest of you suckers.......:D.............frank
Frank the Linux version (XaraLX) is similar to Xtreme 2.0 for Windows although missing some features.
Your machine is working normally and so is the Linux version without the ability to resize and retain curvature.
