Amke a change. save it. wait enough time for a 50 MB file, say, to upload. Make a change. save it. Does it get corrupted?
It you can describe your workflow exactly, I am sure Xara will address it when you raise a Ticket.

That's terrible, but really having your only working file in a single place is always asking for trouble. Didn't Xara make backups?
Here's the part where everyone says in unison "didn't you have backups?"
Yes, and google drive overwrote them. The internal autobackup which i have set to every 10 minutes was overwritten with the bad save. my MOST RECENT backup I didn't update with a broken save feature was from 4 weeks ago.
I'm not stupid on backups, I'm telling you, the save feature broke and ruined the backups.

hseiken, you should always avoid a single point of failure, then this would have been inconvenient rather a disaster. Copy files now and again to a different drive, etc.

We do understand. Part of the point of the Post is to assist others who may experience the same problem.
What I don't necessarily see is that is how to ascribe the fault to Xara, Google Drive or both in combination.

Re: Do NOT Use Google Drive on your local hard drive as a working drive
I thought I was the only one lol
Indeed I Sync working files over three devices mostly Drive sits in the background silently helping me backed up and I can switch from being deskbound at home or on my laptop. Bliss
Until XARA reports the file you are working on does not exist and xara needs to close.
DONT PANIC - do a SAVE AS and save it as a NEW FILE. Do Not try to save as the origional file name.
After a restart you can safely rename your new File to the OLD File Name to keep you sane.
As a work around PAUSE or even kill DRIVE SYNC while you are working.
I have used Drive since forever and I would say this is a new and indeed intermittent problem, I know Google are aware of the issue so Xara is not unique in this regard.
Re: Do NOT Use Google Drive on your local hard drive as a working drive
thanks for that David - it's more or less what I meant earlier on in post #3 when I said save as a new iteration [ie name] and I'm glad that it appears to wotk in this situation
I would never rely entirely on automatic backups of any sort for work I cannot afford to lose, I would change name everytime I restarted the program [date/time good for this] at least...
