Hi,
I haven't painted for quite a while (in the traditional or digital sense ;o) ). I was fiddling and tweaking Painter 5 and 6 brushes and, while experimenting, came out with this "painting". Keep in mind I was trying to get the brushes to behave in a certain way so my mind wasn't really on color and compostion.
Attached are a resized version and a detail (the original was kind of small 800x600 but you can see the strokes a little better than in the resized version).
Thanks for looking,
Tracey

That is one beautiful flower. I'm new to painter too.

Tracey, Welcome to the forum!
Do you recall what brushes you used on the flower?
That is just so pretty. We normally just try to have fun with Painter here. If we manage to get some good composition in the batch, all the better. The detail attachment is so attractive.
I, myself, like clean, uncluttered composition.
So I like that image just the way it is.
Make yourself at home here. And thank you for sharing your work.

Now that the day is wearing on, I have forgotten off-hand what I used...lol.
I saved my new brushes though. I think I used camel hair brush (P5) (for laying down color), sable chisel tip water(P5) (for blending), and I modified the loaded palette knife (P6) (changed the dab type to "static bristle") for more pronounced stroke effect. When using the latter brush, your pressure starts out soft and increases to the end. So you start off with transparent blending effect and the color(the palette color) increases to the end of the stroke. I also used this brush to make the stamens...I just reduced the size, increased clumpiness, and decreased the hairs.
Boy, can I get wordy!!!

Come off it Tracy, what,s with this "I was just doodling around, not even looking at the canvas I would like to show you it, even though it is but a mere trifle" meanwhile you know full well it's better than we could do.
I suppose you enjoy pulling wings off flies.
I can hardly wait to see what you come up with when you try

Tracey,
You did a wonderful job, not only with your painting, but working with Painter's brushes. Thanks for the rundown on which brushes you used.
I don't recall if you said how long you've been using Painter, but keep up the good work.
I look forward to seeing more.
