Re: Making your own stretchable buttons
Text can't repel text - only graphic objects can repel text below (under). So apply repel to the rectangle not the text (or the group - I think that should work as well).
Another related, possibly undocumented feature. Normally groups convert to a single graphic on the exported HTML. That is not useful for text panels where you really want the benefits of it being a group (you can drag it around as one), but want the text in this group t be real HTML text. Just apply the name HTMLText to the text, and that will force it to be real text. This is how all the text panels are done in the Designs Gallery.
Actually Soft Groups is another way of achieving the same effect because all items in a soft group are exported separately and not 'grouped' into a single graphic.

Sorry to say so - but that does not make sence in a matter of how relevant a feature is to a product. I myself can use Xara Xtreme Pro so I can get there - to a custom buttom, but XWD it "living" in the area of creating HTML/Webpages so it really needs the Button tool, while Xara Xtreme is targeted at designers (for print/web graphics) and do not really need tools to create interactive elements (strechy buttons, areas and hovering buttons).
I was expecting to see the button tool as a major part of XWD. Although it is possibel to buy XX4/XXP4 it is not perfect (IMHO) that people need to use two almost simular products to achive their goal: Custom designed easy to maintain websites.
Please consider to add the Button/strechy tool in XWD - not for me (I can cope as I have both XWD and XXP4), but for the success of this brilliant product! :)

I have tried this and here is an example.
Re: Making your own stretchable buttons
Hi Sten,
If you can wait another day I will have the time to make a tutorial on making Stretchable buttons using Xtreme 4.0 Pro.
It should apply as well to Xtreme 4.0 but I don't have that version to verify that it does.
Re: Making your own stretchable buttons
You don't need X4 to make stretchable buttons. You can make them in WD. Drop any button from gallery and edit it the way you want. That's it.

Even if I want to add a plasma fill overlay?
Or a bitmap fill?

Hi Sten,
A very basic tutorial for making your own Stretchy buttons is at:
Bill's stretchy tutorial
I've attached the .xar file for the tutorial and a .web file containing the button.

Re: Making your own stretchable buttons
Just for the fun of it the stretchy button created in the tutorial has been made into a 3 state button.
1. Mouse Off
2. Mouse Over
3. Mouse Down
Re: Making your own stretchable buttons
Thanks Curtis. I missed your post while I was making the 3 state button post.
