Kindle Creator file size

I downloaded the Kindle Creator app from Amazon/KDP and did not even bother to look at the file size. Then I downloaded the Mac version for my client. 261MB.

Doesn't this seem like an huge file size for an app that creates a Kindle Book?

The app is very good, and simple and can quickly convert a Word DOC or DOCX file to Kindle/Tablet/Smarphone file that can be uploaded to Amazon.

And I have plenty of hard drive space, but still and all.

Amazon installs this app in the App Data > Local folder and the .exe file size is only 48MB

That does seem quite large but with abundant cheap disk space and fast download speeds, I don’t think it’s a top priority for programmers to make things as compact nowadays. I suppose the program also has to take into consideration different versions of Windows, languages etc
