Content Catalog Same As Trial
I bought and registered Web Designer Premium after testing the trial version and still have only the trial content. All the premium content is still greyed out. I have read all the threads in this forum and tried all the suggestions to no avail. I'm in the USA and bought the product through Magix as required and it shows as registered both online and in the program. I can login to the Xara website but I can't login to Xara's support. This is somewhat annoying since I can login to both sites with the same username and password but can't get support. What is my next step?

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
You need to do two things to download contents:
1. Go to Help/Download content installer & Pan Studio and run the .exe files.
2. Open the Local Designs gallery and right-click each of six main folders and select "Download All".
Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, downloading might take some time.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Already ran "Download Content Installer" and I don't know what Pan Studio is. "Download All" in the Local Designs gallery doesn't give me anything but the free samples.
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Try this: close the program and right-click the program icon and select "Run as administrator". Next try again to download/install contents.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
As I said, I've read all the other threads on this subject. I've tried that, I've turned off virus and firewall when installing. I uninstalled the trial version, used a registry cleaner to remove the remnants and reinstalled the full version. Everything is updated and registered. What next?

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Do you have access to the Online Content Catalog (Shift+Alt+I)?
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
This sounds like a problem some have had in a bad registration that only Xara can fix.
Are you able to log in and access https://support.xara.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit?

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Yes. Everything other than trial items are greyed out. If you hover on them they say "buy". The software obviously doesn't recognize that I am registered. This is becoming like a couple of other similar threads and the fix is not going to come from the forums unless someone comes up with something new. If I could contact tech support I would, but they're obviously screwed up too.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I get a 404 error if I click on the link. I can't login directly because the tech support login won't take my username and password even though the main site does.

Yeah, been there, done that. I can login to the regular site but not there, so no joy.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
So, you're up a creek w/o a paddle. One of the moderators can hopefully alert one of the Xara devs who can help you out. I'll send a message to Gary Priester with a link to this thread.

Just sent it. Be aware, though, that it's nighttime in the UK right now so it might take a while.

Boy, Gary P is temporarily hors de combat. I've pinged this Thread in the Mods forum.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Hi,
Sorry for the delay,
Sometimes the installation.ini file can get corrupted which can cause this issue. This file contains information that the Content Catalogue passes off to the content servers, and if it's incorrect / incomplete it won't pass back the unlocked content. Try this:
First of all, please uninstall the program from the system again (using the appropriate Windows function).
Now please manually delete the "installation.ini" file, which is a configuration file that was created during the first installation procedure. You can find this file in the following location on your hard drive:
C:\ProgramData\Xara\[program name]\installation.ini
***Tip: open windows explorer and type %programdata% in the address bar to jump straight to the programdata folder.***
Once you have located the "installation.ini" file, just delete it.
This folder is hidden by default so won't show up if you open your C:\ drive in windows, but rather you'll need to type it in the address bar.
Once you're done with this procedure, please reinstall and activate the program.
Please let me know if you get stuck with these instructions
Thanks
Rob

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
No joy. Same as ever. Only the free stuff. The installation ini file is "installation_64.ini" on my system. I can find no installation.ini. I assume that's because this is the 64bit version. It was also removed during the uninstall process so I only found it after I reinstalled it.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
did you then deletethe .INI file and then re-reinstall?
worth a try because if you uninstall with the .INI file present the settings will somehow be remembered - at least I think so, and this maybe what Rob was referring to...
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Yes, and I deleted any folders and leftover files. I then cleaned all references to Xara and Designer from the Windows registry and rebooted before trying to reinstall. Nothing changes.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Sorry to hear that you're still having issues with this. Unfortunately it's weekend now so I doubt any of the devs will be responding before Monday. Hang in there!
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
ok
As a matter of interest, how did you clean out all the references to Xara and Designer in the windows registry? - I'd say that was a pretty difficult thing to do... clear out all the obvious ones yes... but all of them?
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Well, if Xara or Designer are not in the key or value, then I'm not going to find it. But most applications leave a large number of registry settings after being uninstalled which can interfere with future installations. Designer is one of those and since I tried both the 32bit and 64bit versions to check this problem I wanted to get rid of the 32bit remnants.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I see, thanks
Well I think you may need Rob to come back on this one, but it is the weekend so that might delay things
My view is this: a reinstallation may well pick up on a previous one if it finds relevant keys in the registry, obvious or not; but if it then finds some, but not others, it could well not reinstall correctly

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I've now tried installing this product on multiple computers and the result is always the same; access only to free content. This is an account issue, not a software problem. I'm going on two months without the use of this product and Xara support is poor at best. I can't believe it's this hard to take care of this problem. I can only think that support is either understaffed and overwhelmed, or they just don't care.
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
not good...
could be an activation problem.. maybe somehow the account still thinks you only have a trial..
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
Hi Steve,
Did you get a response from Xara support? I am having the same issue. I have purchased the full product but somehow I only get the free template. I tried following the troubleshooting steps but no good. I would like to raise a ticket but I don't have a Xara login only a magix login so it is very frustrating to say the least.
I'm here in the Philippines so calling them is another problem for me.
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
apparently xara and magix account logins have been unified, so first thing to try is logging into xara support with your magix login details
if that does not work is there anything preventing you from registering a xara account?
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I can't find where to register on Xara? Do you have the link for account registration? This is where I try to login using my Magix account https://support.xara.com/index.php?/Base/User/Login. but it doesnt accept my login.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
to register you would need to go to www.xara.com/uk/servicecenter/ [if you are in the US you may need to put 'us' instaed of uk' and ditto 'eu' if in EU but not UK]
choose 'I don't have a login and want to sign in'
likely you will need a different email from the one you currently use for magix - actaully before you do any of this, if you haven't already you can try resetting your magix password by first clicking the 'I forgot my password ' link

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
That is the same login page that I have been using.
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
then I am sorry - I dio not understand
if you have a magix login, you can login on this page with it - hev to ask: you can log onto magix with it I presume?
EDIT - and it's not the same page you said you were trying to log into before...
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I can login to Magix but not on the xara support site where I can raise the ticket. When I login to Magix to request support it directs me back to xara support site, which is really frustrating. I just want to raise a ticket to them.

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
sevenate9 - I have sent a heads up to Xara to check this thread. But as it is the Christmas / New Years Holiday not sure if we will get a quick response. But check back.
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
thanks Gary
@sevenate9 - when you say you have a magix account - is that because you bought a magix product? I'm not sure that free webhosting, for example, counts
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
I have Web Designer Premium which I guess is now a Magix software. It is registered on magix as well but when i try to get support it directs it to support.xara.com
-
Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
guess have to wait for Xara to get back.. sorry :(

Re: Content Catalog Same As Trial
No worries. Appreciate all the help guys!!! Hopefully everything will get sorted out for me and steve.
