Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
Joy to the world!
On January 1st, the 97-year-long copyright restriction on Mickey Mouse finally went away.
At least for screen captures from Steamboat Willie, the first Mickey Mouse movie, made in 1928.
Other Mickey Mouse images, like from the 1940s-50s comic books, are still under copyright protection.
I am so proud to be an American (insert waving flag here), n a country where one of our biggest, most prosperous companies made its fortune from... a rat. Very cool! And of course we all know (say Yes) that Mickey Mouse is really a western pack rat, a nice little animal, though with a propensity to chew vegetable-plastic-coated Toyota ignition wires. A good, decent rat, so unlike its evil huge Norway rat cousins that terrorize New Yorkers.
Happy New Year!
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
rat?
some 'mus' take surely
worth noting countries other than the USA may have their own copyright rules ;)
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
Well Walt called him Mickey Mouse. We live among the pack rats here in New Mexico and I must be missing the resemblance. :O

Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie

Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
Yes, AI and four variations in under 30 seconds!
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
That's beautiful, Gary! How long til we get Xara AI?
And my girlfriend also complained about calling Mickey Mouse a rat.
"Jon, he's Mickey MOUSE!"
Am losing it at 79, I guess.

Yeah, sure, blame the foreigners! ;))
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
bugs bunny could be called a hare as well as a rabbit, although in the US I understand a hare is called a 'jack rabbit' so he may have had an excuse.... ;)
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
Things are really slow around here I guess.

probably, but it's off-topic forum after all, just following our fur and whiskers down a rabbit-hole...

better than 3D printing.... but still not sure I want it to get too 'clever'....
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
Slow surfacing after New Years.
Question -- AI is moving very, very fast, as per your Steampunk Willie art.
How close are we to AI animation, where he would tip his hat, wave his cane, and all the gears on the bsse would be moving?
Haven't kept up, maybe that's here already?
Re: Happy New Year from Steamboat Willie
yes, and progressing as we speak...
