Convert a PNG background to transparent
Hi Everybody,
I've collected a simple PNG file that I would like to use. The obstacle I have is that I will need to convert the background to transparent.

Can I even convert the background to a transparency from within Web Designer, and how?
Many Thanks,
Paul
Re: Convert a PNG background to transparent
Paul, you can.
What version of XWD(P) are you working with?
Instead, I would search for a Pixabay stock Illustration: handshake and use that.
Far more crisp.
Even creating your own set of shapes would be the matter of minutes.

Re: Convert a PNG background to transparent
As far as I know, you can't remove backgrounds in Web Designer, so I did it for you in XDP.

Boy, TG converts PNGs to JPEGs so your offering is back to square one.
Here is a design file with a stock graphic and my quick build as a vector: Attachment 130241

Thank you, Boy.
That's a simple answer.
I think I'll try the trial XDP. My old Xara-1 didn't seem to be able to do it.
Thanks again,
Paul

Re: Convert a PNG background to transparent
Actually Acorn, what Boy posted is a PNG with transparency.
And there is a way to do this in Web Designer.
Apply flat, 100% Multiply (Stained Glass) transparency to the black and white image. This makes the white background transparent but the black remains solid.
Now create a bitmap copy, PNG > True Color + Alpha. Ignore the warning that this transparency is not supported, and click Create.

Gary, my goof. How do I access it?
I think I have it. Drag to the Desktop, release, drag onto the design.
Never thought of that before.

Always a banner day for me when I know something you did not know. :)
