Re: Tessellating patterns
That would make a super poster, Jonopen.
Re: Tessellating patterns
Nice, but there's something fishy about this image. :)
You can create an entry for my tiling backgrounds challenge here https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...ound-Challenge

I rarely print things out nowadays but thanks for the idea. Being based on vectors it should scale up ok.

Here’s something also Escher related I’ve just found whilst rummaging my old hard drive.

Re: Tessellating patterns
Hi Jono, I've been messing about with tessellating recently too. Works well on bitmap fills but I'm having issues trying to use svg fills. I keep getting thin borders. Here's a bitmap fill one that works fine.

Re: Tessellating patterns
You can get some interesting results if you clone then rotate the fill 90 degrees then apply a 50%ish colour dodge transparency. I attach the repeating tile.

Re: Tessellating patterns
You can also create triangular tessillations. This one is the same purple shape over drawn in three different ways and rotated 60 degrees at a time.

Very nice Egg. Loads of possibilities. Just add imagination!
I've just had a quick trawl through a few tessellating images I've uploaded to TG over the years. There's even one that must have been inspired by you! (Egg). And thanks Larry and for the scribbles.

Gary, I think they will come. It probably requires more detail into extracting a repeating tile that is a rectangle without gaps or line widths.

Re: Tessellating patterns
Or maybe a tutorial but I am not sure I have the energy to do that right now. Egg did one a long time ago but for some reason Malwarebytes will not let me go to the page.

Very nice. I am on my way, but I've got a few distractions at the moment, like my shiny new (Mac) computer! :D
