Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
I am looking for true opinions of this Logo as I am not a artist and want to be sure you as artists think of it and it is not about the subject matter what I am looking for is opinions of whether or not you think text is proportional etc. I want this to look good on my website. Attachment 128708

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
GJ, the plant is too low in its container.
The rounded corner box line is too thin.
The font needs to be crisp, clean, upright and sans serif.
If I have to reread the URL then you've lost.
Attachment 128709
I tried to make the box a shallow plant pot and made the gapping wider to express freedom.
I felt the need to ensure a measure of safety yet potential recklessness with the plant added as the i's tittle.
I also tried to match the box line with to the same italicised statement.
I tried to bring the leaves into supporting the URL (as you did).
If you can make everything HTML spans, SVG and font then the scaling of the logo will remain crisp, small or large.
Logos are always evocative so just ignore anything that rankles.

In my opinion the text looks fine so if you are satisfied go for it.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
if it's a logo for a website only then a banner style is ok... but if you want to brand out to anything else you may wish to make it more compact... nothing wrong with the art, acorn's ppoints are well made
-
Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
That's interesting Acorn, I had been looking at something similar, more in the positioning of the text than anything.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
I would lose the rectangle and just keep the leaf. Simple is better. Maybe add a drop shadow to pop the leaf off the page. And maybe use a real leaf. More taste appeal.
And try some other fonts. Maybe even try a typewriter font.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
Fun challenge. Here's my idea. The leaf vector I've used before on my website and sent to Joe to use as he wants.
Unlike Gary I like the border as used by Joe, and find the one used by Acorn to be too like a dotted line. i.e. Joes version looks like the leaf has a white outline whilst Acorns is to far removed from the leaf outline in my opinion.
I particularly like Acorns use of the leaf as a substitution of the leaf above the dot above the 'i'.
I've used the font Cinzel Decrotive Black as I think it's a leaf-like looking font.
The leaf 'viens' are a named colour and I think using almost a white fill springs the leaf forward.
Perhaps I'd use a drop shadow as suggested by Gary but I'd do this with svgator rather than Xara's bitmap shadow.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
Be careful you don't make a real hash of it.
Logos shouldn't be considered in isolation for a website but with consideration for other uses - email, stationery, etc.
I think it's generally too intricate and fine, Gary has mentioned simplicity and that's the core of a good logo.
Probably leaves with just "Marianne" would be better than putting a full url out there. At the very least the .com is not necessary.
-
Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
I thank everyone for your opinions many points well taken, I think the point of dropping the dot com from it for the website is a good point for the website but keep it for the business cards. So in essence I will need two logos very similar but just slightly different. I am sorry I did not use your leaf for the logo Egg, but I have other uses for it on the site.

I misread it at a small size. I rest my case.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
I like it and the suggestions from others. However, I've had to deal with longer logos and they sometimes are hard to incorporate in ads. where you just upload the logo. I'm not good at graphics or logo design, but fooled around with this so throwing it out there. Font choices aren't good, got tired of looking etc. Just a different direction.

Very hard to tell what it is at a smaller size - not the best thing for a logo.

I actually like it but don't have the skill to create a vector of such. I will keep in mind if my skills improve LOL.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
As was said before, a logo should be functional and as simple as possible.
Designing a good logo is a long process and cannot just be done in between.
This is what I quickly came up with. Perhaps continue in this direction.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
In my opinion, the logo should stand apart from the text. You should be able to use it independently. So that in time the logo will get identified with the "product/company" without needing to use the text. So the logo should be consistent, but the text can vary depending on whether it's on a website, apparel, business cards or letterheads etc.

The Problem is the canabis leaf, that's not a logo it's an icon. So you need a claim to be a logo.

I agree, if the leaf is seen just by itself, it just says you are talking to a pot head. That is why the two must must be joined together to make the logo. I have already ordered business cards and a tee shirt for myself. As for apparel, I am pretty sure no one is going to be wanting to wear my logo besides me.

I like your idea also, but I don't have the graphics ability needed to finesse into something great. I do thank you for the suggestion and if I was better with graphics it is a fantastic idea.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
That is quite impressive for someone who doesn't have the skills to "finesse". The only thing I would consider is Maryjane. You might want to select the vertical text and center it as the J, A,N seem to have had maybe a little too much leaf. However, a slight offset on a few letters on maryjane with the straight alignment media (maybe slightly larger) on the bottom might be quite effective. I'll upload xar files I have if you wish, I don't work in this space, just love shapes and green I guess. Take seriously the professionals that give you advice here - especially logo and branding. I think you need to also indulge your creativity, tee shirt - why not?. Font selection can make a big impression, and I think you've got that nailed and I'm liking the fill. I thought about this, but probably too much, you could replace the Y in maryjane with a leaf. Not with this end layout but with animation on the way to the end display? I'd love to work with you on this a bit, but you have to realize most of my ideas on this post have been rejected I'm certain with good reason. However, a few ideas or where to find out how to do them can't hurt.

Re: Opinion Of my new Logo for my website
There is already a maryjanemedia.com and several variations including a registered LLC so you probably need to rethink this before it gets expensive.

Working with the letters to get a more proper alignment, tell me if this looks better to you.
