if I click cancel I get a loud, distracting and as far as I can see totally un-necessary beep through the computer sound system
is this supposed to happen, if so why ?
so far I have not experienced it anywhere else in the program
if it is supposed to happen here/elsewhere can I switch it off, in registry or wherever ?
just one accidental beep would be enough to mess up background audio processing and a lot of work..

I usually [force of long standing habit] click on the x on the top right to close
if I have not done ctr+s first I get this dialog and then I get the beep if I hit cancel, admittedly this is not a sequence of avents likely to happen, I would at this point usually hit save or don't save, but if I have hit the x accidently I would click cancel [which is what it is there for ;)] then I get the beep
you need backup on exit disabled I think, or the dialog will not appear
confirm - it does not happen with ctrl+f4, only when pressing the x - glitch/bug then ?

I smell a gremlin - I wonder if it is windows - I'd better reboot the machine
still the same - it definately comes out of the soundcard speakers - not the little internal beeper nobody seems to use anymore [which is a shame]
I suppose it could be trial specific...
as it is obviously a glitch and not intended i don't have to worry about it - limited to that button it's not going to get in the way for now

Here the same. If I will close an unsaved document with the red X and then push cancel I have a beep.
Close a tab and cancel – no beep.
It's not a bug, it's a feature – OR…????

I hope it is not a feature unless it can be switched off - why just on that button, it makes no sense ?
I agree totaly with you! Such a feature (if it's not a bug) needs nobody.
main sound card is an asus essence - switched to the citiq pro [realtek] speaker channel still get the beep
installed second copy of pro+ on laptop [with sound blaster atlas] making no changes to pro+ at all, other than the following so as to get the prompt on close [ie disable backups]:

@acorn seems strang some get this and some don't, presumably we are all on up to date win 10... and we have verified on same pro+ version
I have yet to try clean install with windows in default and no other user apps...
tried on third computer clean install windows
still get beep
running in demo mode as can only activate on two of course [not yet workrd out how to switch activation]- so autobackups not active anyway and different close dialog, but still the beep when cancelling the close..
I don't get any beep at all.
If i amend the file and hit the X icon top right I get the following.

However if I hit File / Exit Xara just closes without a save option.
Go figure.
jus to check egg - you have got a speaker system active ? this is not an internal beep, it comes through the speaker system as I mention earlier..
that close without option is strange if the file is not saved and not on backup... should not happen ?
