I like using water color pencils without using water.The soft lead is brilliant for getting nice smooth even tones [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] ....and best of all they are not hugely expensive [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
The Prarie dog almost looks like pastel.

This is also a copy. I had always wanted to paint a clipper on the high seas, so I copied a painting I already had. Oil on canvas board.
It looks like the sails and rigging would be the hardest part, but I found painting the ship to be quite easy. Its the water that is most challenging.
