Ok, I love smart arrow, but how do you use Smart Flow Line 1, 2, 3 and 4? When I import any of these four smart shapes I don't see the handles (the blue, green and yellow dots to control the shape) when I select it like they do in any of the other smart shapes. Am I missing something here? If it's me :confused: how do you use these shapes?
I'm using Xara Designer Pro X 16.2.0.56957 on Win 10, Dell XPS 15, I7, 16GB, 1T SSD
Anyone else had the same issue?

Have you inadvertently deselected the Selection Bounds button?

No, as default when you import a smart shape the Quickshape Tool is selected. When you import the Smart Flow line no control handles appear as in Image 1, if i then import a Smart arrow, you do see the control handles. The manual states that Flow lines behave just like Arrows. Obviously not!

switch to the selector tool and make sure that the button chris mentioned is active, then switch back to the quickshape tool and see if the issue is fixed
I'm unclear as to what you're describing. Do you not see the coloured handles at all, or that the lines are different to the arrows?
To me the only difference I can see is a lack of a curvature handle on the lines.
I don't use these - but I checked - all seems working for both in my xdpx15.1 - the handles are there for both types, irrespective of the selector tool setting [as long as the objects are selected of course]
I have looked more closely at your screenshots - in the first one your object is not selected - you can tell that because the quickshape options on the infobar are not greyed out as they would be if one of these smart objects were selected....
Ok, on the Smart Flow Line, the Select tool brings up the normal control handles (black squares) as expected then when i switch back to the QuickShape tool handles disappear, no other handles appear. If i do the same thing with the arrow line, when I click the select tool the black handles appear then when I switch back to the QuickShape Tool the smart handles appear. This is the behavior I would expect from the Smart Flow line as well. Does it work on your version of XDP?
on my version the smart handles are there on both the arrow and the flow lines
maybe the issue is with selecting the flow object
how about closing the program opening a new document and seeing if it works then... glitches can happen

in you video the status bar says your flow line is 'inactive' - not sure what that means - maybe it will ring a bell with someone else...
Yeah, I can't figure out why either, and it's the same only with the four Smart Flow lines as far as I can tell. It's not like I don't know how to use XDP either, I've been using it since version 3 or 4 something like that. Maybe I need to reinstall the software.
inactive means you are trying to use a Smart Shape in a product that does not have the code to allow its smart use; it defaults to a dumb objects with no smarts.Quote:

I've recently fresh installed XDP on a fresh install of windows 10 on a newly bought SSD. The version I'm running is Xara Designer Pro X 16.2.0.56957. I've not opened any old document. I've renewed my subscription as well so I have access to the latest update. So I'm not sure how or why I would NOT have "the code to allow its smart use".Quote:

FIXED! I downloaded XDP again and re-installed it. The installer removed the old version and installed the new version except that its the same version. Old version 16.2.0.56957 new version 16.2.0.56957. What was different is that I has to deactivate the PC the installation was running on before I could activate the software. Did that fix the issue? Don't know but the Smart Flow Lines are now working!

might have - I think I'm right in saying that there are restrictions on the availability of OCC items when running the program in 'trial' [not activated mode] - still it's fixed that's good :)
viiartz, in hindsight, it might just have been that the prior install hadn't sorted out all the attached libraries. We usually advise running the application once as Administrator to sort such out. I am pleased you now have a working version.Quote:

Throughout the issue, my installation was activated. I was not running a trial version. Which added to the confusion.

Have you tried to start the program by right-clicking the program icon and selecting 'Run as administrator'?
on a side note then, it is interesting that you needed to deactivate and reactivate when installing the same program version on the same unmodified computer, that should not be necessary..
I would necessarily deactivate any Xara installation as this is MagiXara. Do something slightly different to what Xara has designed for and it rarely works in your favour.Quote:
