Unable to reply in Xara Brushes Forum...
...so I am replying here to thank properez5 for the great sets of grunge brushes posted over the last couple of days.
Hours of fun, everybody do yourselves a favour and download a set or two from here.
(Can I make a request for some halftone brushes, I would be ever so grateful!) :D

Forum: Xara Brushes
An archive of brushes for you to explore and use. (New threads will appear after moderator approval)
Christine must approve them first :)
You only have the option to "Reply with Quote", not a simple "Reply" option.
"Reply with Quote" in my case leads to the same reply Acorn points out the post above this one.
I've never understood why this forum requires such tight admin control.
Re: Unable to reply in Xara Brushes Forum...
as I recall the restriction on posting by members was because that forum is/was meant to be a resource and not a discussion platform

I think these brushes are great but would also be interested to see examples showing ideas how best to use them.
I know roughly how to create a dispersion effect in apps like Affinity Photo (see apple below) using masks, but I don't really know how, or if indeed it is actually possible, to achieve the same effect in Xara Designer.

I've had a quick go and can make abstract sketchy grungy (Disperser8 for the edges and Disperser3 for general grunge) but I feel there is a lot more to discover.

Jono,
Angelize did a video on doing dispersion effects a few years ago. Here is the youtube link.

I’ve never fully understood using masks so it will be a useful exercise.
