Acorn is NOT retiring from moderating (this forum) - UPDATED
Acorn, who has been a moderator on this forum for some time has decided he would like to retire from his moderator role and resume life here on TG and in this forum as a member.
Thank you Acorn for all your help. We will miss your help as a moderator but are happy that you will still around as a member to give other members a helping hand on an informal basis.
So when you see Acorn out and about TG, please thank him for his service to this community.

Re: Acorn is retiring from moderating this forum
On another note but under the same subject. Why senior users on this forum are still called member? Someone who has contributed so much like acorn should have a title, others like myself who have been a member since 2002 should also be given a title. Is this possible Barbara?

Thanks Acorn for the brilliant job you've done here!

Re: Acorn is retiring from moderating this forum
We could do that. Do you have any titles in mind that you think would be appropriate?
Can you start a new thread in TalkGraphics questions, suggestions and feedback with your suggestions, so others can also make suggestions and we can discuss?

It's a great way to make some people feel more important than others and for people who think they should be important feel slighted.
I don't see how it should improve anything and I think contributions should be accessed on their content rather than the longevity of the member.
I'd say "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Let all members be equal.

Re: Acorn is retiring from moderating this forum
Content is most important but I also look at the TG join date and the number of posts to give weight to a post and its poster. TG can be proud to have some major legends (for lack of a better term) keeping it relevant.

Re: Acorn is retiring from moderating this forum
I see no need to be on a pedestal so Member is fine.
Thank you all for your positive comments too.
Just to be exact, my "retirement" (Barbara's word) was me only relinquishing the task of moderating.
I am still fully engaged with TalkGraphics as a Member.
I enjoy helping as the more I do the more I learn.
If you have a challenging problem and think I might know something, just add @Acorn.
I usually do not jump in until a Post has had over 100 views so as to give others the courtesy of first shout.
Acorn
P.S. Moderation is easy, just keep calm and suggest the same for others and kill Spam.
Moderating and having strong convictions was a concern others raised.

Re: Acorn is retiring from moderating this forum
I rediscovered this Thread where I reverted to just being a Member.
Despite my years, I clearly didn't learn as I have been moderating now for a number of months.
The best thing about TalkGraphics is the community. It asks a variety of questions and in return it answers them with compassion and knowledge.
Our passion is its own reward but we like also finding out that our suggestions have worked. No one like bellowing down a hole. Well, some do.
If you don't know, ask. If you do know, tell. If you spam, go elsewhere.
