May it flow to the desktop
Matt Bolton, ' Xara [GmbH] cofounder and CEO' ... there's a thing...
Yes Steve,very strange
Think they want the world to believe it's a startup
Guess that's why the xara.com site is the way it is and also why all referrences to any desktopversion is buried.
No more money to get from there I suppose
If they f** that up it has no consequences for the DT version is that what you mean?(or did you forget the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tag? )
On the other hand no marketing money will be spent either to give the DT version the limelight it deserves
Dang, that "start up" has been taking my money for a decade.
they aren't bonded in the corporate sense... [except in the sense they are both [preumably] part of the 'magix group']... which is the whole point, because the 'startup': Xara GmbH', bsed in Berlin, is a limited company seperate from The Xara Group Ltd' based in Gaddesdon; so if one fails it does not impact on the other at the corporate level [ie not liable for each others debt] - the other side of that coin thouigh is will the success of one benefit the other?
also it means that the businesses that Xara GmbH wish to attract as customers/clients do not [necessarily] see the history of Xara Group Ltd - 'clean break'
be interesting to know who is employed by both companies and in what capacity
Xara GmbH is the startup, soley responsible for Xara CloudQuote:
Dang, that "start up" has been taking my money for a decade
Xara Group Ltd remain as responsible for the desktop development, or so we are assured...
Yuck!
following through we find this:
presumably the R&D office is at Gaddesden, which is not actually in London, but close emough for some... ?Quote:
Today millions of people around the world use Xara to create stunning content, collaborate with colleagues, and grow their business. Xara is a VC funded company, has 50+ employees, and with headquarters in Berlin and an R&D office in London
[VC = venture capital]
One thing strikes me is the fact that Matt shows his presence here at the forum but conveniently does not react to this statement he did make on the net.
https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...382#post596382
in a cloud-based, social-media world the forum is a bit of a backwater ?
But why show your nose around here ?
I assume he is CEO of both Xara GmbH and The Xara Group Ltd whatever the exact relationship between those two corporate entities is...
He weighed in re desktop ver 15 update and got caught out, maybe he is being more cautious now... statements regarding policy should ideally not be made on the hoof [but try telling UK MP's that re Brexit :D]...
He who wants to be heard should also learn to listen.
even the social media world is made for dialog and not for a monologue.
Or you'll be that proverbial man shouting in the desert with no one to hear him.
Xara staff are present in the forums haakoo, you know that. Here I am this morning and I've read this, and I'd surely answer if I could work out what the question was!
More generally please can I ask you all to show respect to the forum structure and remember to start your threads in the most appropriate forum. Graphics Chat is for discussion of Designer Pro, Photo & Graphic Designer, as it says at the top of the page! I will move this thread to Off Topic.
Kate Moir
The forum we are in is "OFF-TOPIC CHAT"
@Kate, I think the drift of theThread is the discovery that Xara GmbH is a €3M seeded venture and the question is whether it is an adjunct of Magix solely or if it is tethered in any way to Xara plc. The second point is Xara plc is again marginalised and we would like to understand why. The final point is Matt is happy to reminisce about old cars but not how Xara Cloud is directly impacting Xara Desktop applications.
Acorn
"Xara has millions of users" - is that viewers of Xara-generated websites?
does xara 'plc' exist
look at my sig
what is reaped is what is sown
I never thought I was important enough to mke any difference, but I always thought my voivce would be heard
no even sure about that any more... and that is what is so depressing...
The sound of silence
Xara GmbH owns the companies that develop all the Xara products. As Matt explained in his Open Letter @ https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...EO-Matt-Bolton, Magix is only a sales and marketing reseller of Xara Desktop products. This funding will help grow all of the Xara product lines and expand our market presence.
