Thanks Mike
wordpress is looking a good alternative at the mo.
Mike, I click the Local Designs gallery Disc designs button and add this folder to access all my v11 stuff: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Xara\XtremePro\1 1\Cache\designs\eng.
For XWDP, I use C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Xara\WebDesigner Premium\11\Cache\designs\eng. These even add the Template Packs and Widget Packs I bought.
<username> is your MS Windows account name.

Re: import designs to prox
So angry that I can't get what I had paid for...... I didn't think I would have to download all the content as I had paid for it .... ok I understand that any new content would have to be paid for but not past content that I could have downloaded.
Is there anyone that has the content that I can get....or is that against the rules ...
Why don't Xara value their loyal customers I have upgraded since pro6 and got 3D ,Xtreme .... beats me.
Sorry Acorn just feel ripped off.
Thanks for your help
Mike
Re: import designs to prox
Mike, have you tried dragging the website onto your page?
Acorn
Re: import designs to prox

Mike, the green folder should expand though.

Even if you just see a website, all the associated design objects will be there.

That's the problem Acorn ...they are not there as in attached ...they are all greyed out.
Mike
Thanks for ur time
Re: import designs to prox
Mike, I meant you can import the entire website template and use parts of that.
My guess is that Xara makes changes to the on-line content and even when you are no longer in support cover, each Desktop application start-up connects to the Xara servers and that connection downloads the metadata changes for Xara's latest changes.
The problem then is your downloaded content is possibly deleted by Xara as part of its housekeeping. We saw this happen totally once before when Xara mucked up.
The remedy is to have the CD or copy all the cache contents to a different folder that Xara doesn't know about.
It is all very sad and spiteful yet Xara doesn't seem to understand the pain and anger is is creating despite all our remonstrations.

Re: import designs to prox
Really appreciate your help ..... shame Xara are so sure of themselves not to bother about good customers......All I want is what I paid for .....
I open up pro11 and drag what I want onto and clean page then copy and paste it into prox ....... what a pain in the backside that is.....
I am trying out wordpress as an option to dump Xara but its like leaning another program and all the sites have to be changed at my cost
not the clients....... I have sent a complaint as you stated in the other post with the link so maybe I might get an answer.
Thanks again Acorn

Re: import designs to prox
I am fortunate as I can absorb the costs. I resent the time wasted.
What MagiXara seem to not understand is that data storage is cheap and placing artificial barriers between the product and the Customer is wasteful: product fragmentation and pay zones do not work.
My concern is all the poor Xara Customers who think it is their fault somehow so discard such a wonderful product.
All I see on TalkGraphics is a corpus of around 20 contributors and 200 subscribers with 2,000 consumers.
Leverage up MagiXara: genuine functional updates, frequent catalogue content and open access.Go on, you know you want to.

Unfortunately they don't!!!
Re: import designs to prox
MagiXara wouldn't understand good business sense if it poked them in the eye.

Re: import designs to prox
Only way I can get the design content is for someone to dropbox it to me ......;))

Mike, I do believe that breaches our EULA. You have to pester MagiXara yourself.

Re: import designs to prox
Not sure what rules they are Acorn...... only want what I paid for if that's against the law something is wrong .....I have got a reply from Xara ...this is what I got back ...
Hello,
Thank you for your request.
Of course, the content and downloads that you have already invited in your project can still be used without the Update Service.
You also have the opportunity to download and save the content that interests you from the online content catalog in advance.
Best regards,

What a waste of time that was ....... In other words if you don't download what you have paid for your not gona get it if you leave it to long .
And they want me to upgrade ....not in a million years.
Mike.
please change that silly rule Acorn as it's not fair for my situation.

Mike, it is not in my gift to change Magix and Xara's EULAs, merely to point out the crassness of them.

I understand that Acorn ....just hope someone would feel sorry for me and send them .
I have emailed Matt Bolton but I don't hold out much hope as I guess he is very busy with bigger fish.

Mike, you might be heartened in that no on-line content is accessible at the moment as the servers are down or they need a shilling for the meter.
Acorn
Re: import designs to prox
Success .....all updated this morning and saved in a backup folder.
Thank you Matt Bolton.
Thanks Acorn for keeping me calm ....lol
