I knew y'all would like to see this.
I made it myself. Really. It's a logo for my next door neighbor's Irish sheephound. Or is it an interface? Actually, I think it's a rollover button. Yeah, that's what it is. It's a really cool rollover button.
Tell me if you think it is as great as I think it is (not to mention if I am as terrific as I think I am :-)
Oh, I made it really big so you could see all the really cool detail! (I also voted myself 5 stars but don't tell anyone)

You are such a dork............
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
-
Ouch!!
Well, so much for the subtle approach.
-
Being a relative newcomer here and a lurker to boot (not a full time Xara user, just an experimenter) I've been hesitant to say much about the whole ordeal, but it's about time somebody said something about this... interfaces, knives, and starship enterprises and aboslutely nothing resembling any of these...

Gary, I love you !!!
(in a mental, intellectual, platonic way only ..)
I knew what to expect when I saw the topic in all caps.
And I almost had to scroll horizontally, just a few pixels wider ...
If it is a rollover, I suggest to give the circle a psychedelic texture and to save it as 256 color GIF with dithering. This way it would be even cooler !!
And Wizaerd, you really got the point! Could not have said it any better ...
Ross Allen: your resolutions don't seem to keep fresh very long. May I remind you of your own "pigheaded" thread:
--- quote start ---
Sorry yall for being pigheaded.i will try to listen to what yall say and learn to apply it. oh and thanx for beating me up. gave me some great ideas !

Ouch, too! (Can't tell you how many times this has happened in the last couple weeks.)

Wolfgang, are you browsing full screen at 1280? (I don't normally use the whole screen for the net, but I had to for this one!)

Peat Stack or Pete's Tack?</p>

Peter,
I use 1280 x 1024 and I am always in fullscreen-mode. I'm just used to it ...

and 100% ditto to Wizaerd. It might be off topic but a bit of light refreshment.

Gary - did you use only xara or were other applications used too? Don't take this criticsm too hard but I suspect the circle might look better green. Perhaps you could try it and see...
Oh and there is this guy named Gary who does tutorials. Check them out here - you might find some good xara pointers.

I really hate to rain on your parade, of course, but The Circle is actually two pixels too narrow in diameter to Attain True Greatness.

nothing to say ... the ball speaks for itself.

Post .xar to prove that you really drew this without industry standard editor which all proffesional use and we all should use too as it's and industry standard and everybody use it so it must be good. I also don't believe it's posted by you, Gary. Please post yourself too so I can check if it was really you.

I was looking around another site and saw a big circle graphic. I noticed you didn't give credit where credit was due. Shame, shame on you! Maybe you should read your wife's book...

I thought the circle was an 'open source' graphic!

Very clever. I'm sure rollover graphic must be a political comment about China and it's position on the conflict in Afghanistan.

So then I guess, size does matter.

Is it fine art OR just nothing...
The circle can symbolize all that exists OR nothingness...
The colour is orange OR redish...
The color orange can symbolize lust BUT red can symbolize love...
The font burns itself into my retina BUT it also makes me cry...
The bottom text is safely anchored in center of the circle, giving it order and harmony. Ahh... but the top text is off-center creating unbalance and chaos.
The circle is perfectly centered on the canvas which gives the feeling of perfection and stability. Ahhh... but it can also express the lack of flexibility and even boredom.
The size of the circle compared to the text gives the impression of power and dominance. Ahhh... but it can also express the lack of respect and selfishness.
The use two exclamation marks indicates enthusiasm and youth. Ahhh... but it can also indicate the lack of confidence and over promise.
Is anyone else feeling these things OR am I going nuts?

That is it, Ross. It makes me feel all kinds of different things. I have all these emotions running through my sensitive mind... and they are scaring me!
Damn you, Gary! You should stop manipulating peoples minds like that!
The chimney works good. It is not the prettiest thing ever put together but it works...

Gary,
Your such a dork
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

... relax a little bit, have a Cream Soda and a cracker or something.
To put it bluntly - You suck at what you do... my 4-year-old shows more imagination than you do.
Ross, you know the voices that you hear in your head, the ones that say that you are pathetic?...
... they are not in your head, it is actually the people around you that are talking...
Surely, someone must have told you that you have to learn to listen, no?

So we've found out, Ross. (And no, I'm not laughing with you, I'm laughing at you.) Now call me a dork too — I'd be honoured!
To the rest of you — sorry I've failed to keep my own resolution, but I promise to hold back a bit now to make up for it...

That the last 3 letters of "what you think about it" is visually detached from the sentence. Lack of taste - well illustrated. Thanx for enlightement Gary.

Dmagician, you said earlier: "decided to pick on the youngest member of this forum... Very brave. Do you want to finally get some sympathy from others here this way? This is quite sick"
Well, join the club of sick people 25 yr old college kiddo LOL
Ross Allen, you grow up boy. With 14 years of age I was chasing the girls instead of designing childish stuff like you do. Get a life!
(I guess I'm more to the point and don't need to draw a circle)
-
Problem is that you've showed a a total shortage of decent behaviour in your previous provocative posts. I really don't see any change in it. You're still the same (excuse moi) 'moron' since that unfortunate thread about Real Draw. You're the same uchanged Peter as the Ross2 stays unchanged in his useless topic starting, oversized unfinished image posting, lack of self-evaluation and absolutely no response to USEFUL ADVICES.
I've already written some things to Ross2, and never told him anything bad about his age and lack of skills. I really believe the age between 14-18 years was one of the best years I've ever lived. I think I was the very creative and imaginative at that age. Peter, I really think that giving someone wannabe-advices like: "With 14 years of age I was chasing the girls instead of designing childish stuff like you do. Get a life!" is very rude and definitely very unsensitive with 14 years old boy. But it seems to be a typical response one could expect from you.
-
Peter Pan ...
don't know about the others, but Roman has MY sympathy already.
He achieved it not through picking onto younger/older members (nor by charming them) but by posting useful stuff and by making good and helpful comments in the past.
And I am no doctor, but I don't think that he sounds sick ...

Gary, Can you provide us with a tutorial on how you created that circle?!? Don't forget to include instructions for how you created the text as well. It sounds like a great XaraXone topic for November.

Ok guys, I know that I'm a younger member of this forum, and that you probably won't take into consideration what I'm about to say, and I may even get reamed for it! But I'm going to say it anyway...
Will you all just go back and read what you've been saying, and think about why on earth you've been saying it, then think about the maturity in the reason you've been saying it!?! So he may be an annoyance sometimes and not listen to all that is said to him, but does that give us the right to act younger than he is? Seriously, this wasn't meant to offend anyone (Although I know these posts were) and I really do respect all of you, but please just quit posting to this, it really does make me think when I see 20-50yr. old guys making fun of a 14 yr. old kid!? Do you expect him to be as good as you Gary and everyone else?
Now does it take a 15yr. old guys posting to make you realize this? Have a heart

When I go over these posts, I would really expect all of them to be authored by Peter Pan over there.

I originally saw this tread as good-natured and a bit of fun. Now with Risto's "You suck..." posting I'm embarrassed that I ever posted here. There is no good reason IMHO for this to have degraded to being mean. (I do not see young Ross' calling Gary a Dork to be mean - I think in the context of this thread it is understandable and I appreciate the restraint young Ross has shown).
I think this thread was started to make a point. I've little doubt young Ross 'got it'. I would like to think those of us who have contributed to this thread just want young Ross to really take stock of the advice he has been repeatedly and explicitly given in previous threads. I sincerely hope my namesake continues to participate - albeit with some consideration of what others have tried so hard to tell him. Calling him names and such only serves to drive him away. Is that really what anyone wants? Sure his pattern of posting is unwanted but I don't think he is.
Like I said, I admire that young Ross has shown some restraint here. Perhaps the primary message to him has finally sunk in. Lets give him a chance to show us it has without driving him away. I'm also glad to see Peter P still around. I think many would agree that Peter's negativity seems to originate from some chip he carries on his shoulder - presumably that chip will fall off some day and we could see years of Peter sharing constructively with us. I hope so.
This forum has room for users of all skill levels including Newbies. Ross made himself a target by continually brushing off well-intended advice and demonstrating that he didn't internalize serious requests that he reduce the sizes of his posts etc. Perhaps now he will. I really hope so on that too.
To Ross: I hope out of all this you'll understand that there are some informal rules around here. They are the result of a culture that has developed through many thousands of postings by many hundreds of participants. Perhaps the number one rule relates to 'listening'. When we post and ask others to give their attention to our posting it is critical that we 'listen' to their replies. Always try to understand those replies. This forum is about communication.
Regards, Ross

...was perhaps not the most intelligent ever posted at this forum. Ross Allen has on the otherhand not shown to understand or listen to anything what has been said to him. I doubt that I sunk low enough for him...
