Hey Guys...is there a way to have one rectangle on top of 4 others (different colors)....and on each rectangle is a bunch of links for different years?
I'm trying to display monthly meeting minutes...
I want to stack them and when you click on the year (which should look like a "tab") it brings that box "to front focus" and the user can see all the month's minutes for that year?
(example.......its like laying papers on top of each other with a tab off on the right edge with the year....you click on that year and it brings that box to the front displaying the links)
Thank you,
Karen

Re: Web Designer Pro 10 Premium - tab affect?
Hi Karen
You can do this with layers. In essence, each tab will be a button linked to each of the four layers. When you click on each tab it will link to a different layer and all the cards will be the same size.
The tab/buttons should be separate from the layers and on the MouseOff layer.
Does this make sense and/or do you need more stapes.

See if this file makes sense. Preview the page and click the tabs.

Hi Karen, as Gary states you can use layers effectively for this but I also believe you need to use directories (folders) otherwise over time the site could become very heavy to handle. If I get the time I'll try to expand on this.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for Gary....I will try (now) to edit each word (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) and assign a web address (to a pdf file) that would be stored on the web server in a folder.
I think I have to break the group on each color layer - right now I can't edit each month.
EDIT: right now each "month" (word) is shown in the layers as a "shape" instead of text ....so assigning a web link to each month is not working... ?

The text on the example I made is on a bitmap. You can place a linked transparent rectangle over the text (Jan Feb, etc.) or create a new rectangle and add actual text for the months and then link the text.

Hi Gary....I tried that ....putting a little rectangle over inside each group (where the individual bmp letters are for each month)...everytime I assign a web link to one of those rectangles....it applies that path to all the rectangles even though each rectangle are in their appropritate group with their bmp month letters. (this would be a nice new widget design for the next little version upgrade...by the way)

AH-HA!!! I needed to put the rectangles under the year (mouse over layer) but NOT inside the groups!!! SUCCESS.....!!!!
Whoop - there it is..... =D>
Thank you Gary (for making me think)....I will upload the example for others to benefit from.
(still would be a nice widget....hint-hint)
Now that you are done, I would have created one master panel with all 12 months as text. Then copy and paste the master panel into the other year's layers. Then link the text to the appropriate PDF files.
But the one thing we know about Xara, and Xara users, is there is always more than one way to do something.
Cheers then. :)

Re: Web Designer Pro 10 Premium - tab affect?
I'm going to give that a try now Gary....I have to setup years from 2001 - 2014 ....that's why I thought using a tab affect would look neater.
Karen
PS: I added the working attachment in my previous thread ...that's the one with the bitmap and transparent rectangles...I added a cover page, instead of having 2012 showing twice (mouseOff layer and 2012 layer).

Hi Karen, unfortunately I can't view your attachment. You appear to be getting there however. Here is my take on Gary's template and how to make things like this as simple as possible. Watch in HD:

OH MY ...Egg!!!! This is wonderful....using navigation bars and pre-designing ahead of time for upcoming years (hiding them with the hider bars).....
LOVE IT!!! Will definitely be setting this up and using in other stuff too...like (previous year's press releases, etc)
