I don't know if this will help or not but if you haven't already you might check.

How to recover .dwg file, how to open problem autocad files and some other issues you can find at:- http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum...ing-dwg-format
If still the drawing persists with problems, continue on to the next set of steps. These can be done in any order, but have been listed in the order that Autodesk recommends makes the most sense. The file can be checked after each step. If things appear back to normal, there is no need to continue on to the rest of the steps.
Open a blank DWG and type RECOVER at the command line. Browse to the problematic file to allow AutoCAD a chance to restore the file.
Type OVERKILL at the command line, and select all objects. Check or uncheck properties to include or ignore, then click OK.
Type DELCON at the command line, and select all objects.
Type BREP and select all objects (if there are solids or surfaces in the file)
Type -SCALELISTEDIT, then "R" for reset, then "Y" for yes.
Type FILTERS, then click on the 'delete filters' button.
Try using a different version of AutoCAD to open the drawing, such as AutoCAD 2013 vs. AutoCAD 2015 or plain AutoCAD vs. AutoCAD Architecture, etc. Try different computers if available.
Open a blank DWG, and try to attach the problematic file as an XREF. If it allows you to attach the file, try next to BIND it to the current file. If that works, run the repair steps listed above.
Use the SAVEAS command to save the DWG in an older file format. Attempt to open the newly created file.
Export the file to DXF format using the DXFOUT command. Next, open a blan DWG and use the DXFIN command to import the file just created.
Restore the Layout tabs:
Right-Click one of the default layout tabs
Select 'From Template...'
Open the original file
Choose the layout tabs to restore. (It is recommended to do this one tab at a time, in case one or more layout tabs are corrupted)
Move drawing objects between model and paper space. You may find that only one drawing space is usable in your file, although your main concern is model space:
Create a new layout and if need be, create a viewport.
Use CHSPACE to move all the geometry to paper space.
Create a new drawing and use the Design Center (ADC) to move the layout from the damaged file into it.
Use CHSPACE again to move the geometry back to model space.
Restore the original layouts from the bad file using the Design Center.
Dissect the drawing. In a copy of the file, conduct a process of elimination using QSELECT to select different object types and then delete them to see if that fixes what is wrong in the file. Do PURGE All after each deletion. Eventually you should remove the problem elements and then you can choose to leave them out, copy them in again from another file, recreate them, or further troubleshoot individual items to pinpoint exactly which one is problematic. A quick start to this whole process is to delete everything in the drawing and then test it. This will quickly tell you if the issue is with a drawing object or if it is a part of the drawing database.

I had a problem. During the work to the drawing there was a program failure. I was looking for an auto save file with the extension .sv$. HE found, but I can't rename it in .dwg . Was the file for example NEW.sv$, and then became NEW.dwg.sv$
What to do? I have АutoCAD 2002
Please help!
Read post #4 in this thread http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...iles-Corrupted
hope that helps.
1) Try to go to the «Tools» menu - choose "folder options" - View " and clean a tick "to hide the registered types of files". And everything will work!
2) see if the following article would help:

My colleague with a similar installation as mine cannot open or reference dwg files in SS2. The error message is "The *.dwg is not in a recognized file format.". However, I can open and reference the file, and it can be opened in earlier versions of Microstation. What should we look for to solve this?
Welcome to TalkGraphis. What is ss2? What kind of file is he trying to open? If it is a xar file and he does not have that it will not be recognized. Any of the other file formats such as png, gif, or bmp should.
hi all,
I cant open .dwg files on my Autocad 2015, it gives me the error message: "The *.dwg is not in a recognized file format.".
Probably I have to use another version of Autocad!?
What should I look for to solve this?
Many thanks in advance!

Have you tried in autodesk forums for a solution
Hi, I'm interested in what programms can work with .dwg files instead of AutoCAD? A am not able to use AutoCAD at the moment. Is there any sfot which able to open .dwg extension? Thnx.
Sketchup can import dwg files
http://www.sketchup.com/
There are a number of freeware CAD programs that can open DWG extensions ... Try FreeCAD.
The one that I have used successfully for years and it's also free is SolidEdge: http://www.plm.automation.siemens.co...d-edge/free2d/
You may visit the official page of third party software https://dwg.recoverytoolbox.com/
Recovery Toolbox for DWG must help you to recover .dwg files, it is paid, but any case, it provides fast and high quality result.
As free alternative look at next item: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum...ror-at-opening
Read here there is planty of them http://www.dwg.openfiletool.com/
Autodesk AutoCAD or DWG TrueView
* DWG Open File Tool
* IMSI TurboCAD
* SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer
* ACD Systems Canvas
* Corel Paint Shop Pro
* AutoDWG или Solid Converter DWG
* IrfanView
Hi,
Other free alternatives :
Doublecad
Draftsight
If I remember well Draftsight exports good PDF.
That list would be much more impressive if it didn't contain so many duplicates "Autodesk Fusion 360" is in it 5 times .... What did you do just cut and paste results from multiple websites without bothering to edit it at all.
I am closing this thread, the original poster has not returned since 2/24/15, the day the question was posted. If he does return there are plenty of answers to explore.
I have several drawings that were created in autocad 2010. However now
I am using 2012, and the files will not open, and I get a message from
autocad indicating that I need the DWG viewer to open the file. I
downloaded the application, and installed it from the autocad website,
but when I execute it, I get the attached error. Does anyone know if
the view works with Win 7? Or a way to open and print my drawings?
Have you tried the "insert" command on the command line. I would do this on a clean file on opening. I am sorry it's years ago since I have used autocad professionally but it should work. Also like most drawing programme with auto save it will have a backup file location and you can use windows search to find it in start just type in "%tmp%" if the file came from your computer. In the same vain autocad had a recovery manager when I was using it in 2007 why not use that to see if it works that is if the file got corrupted. Hope that helps.
Just did a google search to see if the info I gave you was correct and they have an online viewer which would negate any windows problems and it can be done from here: https://360.autodesk.com/viewer
I can not open drawing I have message on screen INTERNAL ERROR: !dbqspace.h@410:eUnknownHandle how do I solve this problem
Welcome to TalkGraphics
What application are you using to try to open this file?
You might find some answers here https://duckduckgo.com/?q=INTERNAL+E...nHandle&t=ffsb
First, open a blank DWG and run the RECOVER command. You can then browse to the problematic file, and AutoCAD will attempt to repair any errors it finds. Save the file, and then see if everything works as you expect it to. If not, you may apply (link removed by moderator) DWG Repair Toolbox or continue on to the steps below:
1) Open the problematic file and make sure all layers are on and thawed.
2) Detach any XREF's.
3) Type in -PURGE at the command line (remember to enter the dash before the command). Type R for RegApps. Delete all RegApps in the file. It is not necessary to do them one by one because sometimes there can be thousands and it would take a very long time.
4) Type AUDIT, and select Y for yes to audit the file of any errors.
5) Type PURGE and purge the file of anything that can be purged.
6) Using the WBLOCK command, block out all the information in the file to create a new drawing. Select the objects by windowing them; do not just type ALL.
7) Open a blank DWG. Do not use any templates. (Set the STARTUP variable to 0, and then open a file if you are unsure if you are using templates)
8) Using the INSERT command, insert the file created in step 6.
9) EXPLODE the newly inserted information so it is not a block any longer.
10) Test to see if the file now works correctly. If it does, you can start to add in the Xref's again one by one. Test the file after each insertion. If the problem returns after inserting an Xref, you'll know that that file needs to be cleaned using these steps as well.
As a final note, I highly recommend running the AUDIT and PURGE commands before each save. This will keep the file clean and greatly reduce the chance of any corruption setting in. You too can have clean files by following these steps!
Hello experts,
I have a dwg file that is corrupted or encrypted and I need to fix it.
Is there any tool I can use to check the integrity of the dwg files.
Refer to the following thread for some possible solutions.
http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...iles-Corrupted
Maybe a quick check suggested by the principal themselves with various steps
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/suppor...orruption.html
Otherwise, try using DWG Recovery Toolbox s/w just to make the file legitimacy for recovery chances of prev copies. http://www.oemailrecovery.com/dwg_recovery.html
Hopefully from Autocad autosave by default, it should have saved dwg file automatically with ac$ as default extension, and if we can just find the *.ac$ file and change ac$ to dwg. There may be slight chance. The AutoCAD's autosave file is saved in this folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\appdata\local\temp\. typically.
Look at it this resource. Perhaps you will find there more useful information.
