My thoughts are, you're splitting hairs. :) You did ask.
It is still a great drawing program, and more.
There is a long thread about the splash screen already. In short, make your own.
Unless I've misread something, I don't think the OP is asking about the splashscreen itself, rather that the drawing pencil has been left off.Quote:

I hope it will continue to be a drawing program but it feels more and more like it leaning towards the Microsoft Publisher side of programs. I don't want to see that happen to it.

William - I think you are being too literal. I do not think the absence of the pencil means any more than the designer wanted to represent the three other products in the suite and then the 4th icon represents all of these separate products in one product. Honest.

My post had more to do with the meaning of why the drawing pencil was omitted, if there was a reason behind it.
The consensus here seems to be that XDP will continue to be a strong drawing and illustration app and will be getting improvements in this area in the future and I am OK with that. So again, I wasn't concerned about the look of the splash screen, but only about the future of the drawing tools in XDP.
