XPGD 2013 - How do you add a Plugin?
I have been trying to install the Eye Candy plugin but cannot get XPGD 2013 to recognize the plugin.
I ran the Alien Skin plugin and pointed it to the Plugins subdirectory under the Xara program folder. What the heck am I doing wrong?
I have run the install procedure several times but the Plugin never shows up in XPGD. When the install asked for the folder I pointed to the Plugins folder under the Xara Picture Editor folder under the Xara software folder.
It never shows up when I click on the Live Effects drop down list.
I am running Windows 8 and do not have any other programs like Photoshop.
Re: XPGD 2013 - How od you add a Plugin?
Dave, I'd try re-installing the Alien Skin software, but create a new folder first, and then point it to the new folder.
Sometimes programs like plug-ins are "looking" for Photoshop, and perhaps the plug-in didn't successfully install to the already-created folder because it was nested within an existing filter.
I have a folder on my HD that I use exclusively for third party plug-ins. And to the best of my knowledge, XDP8 is reading most of them.
My Best,
Gary

Where do you have that folder? Did you then use the Setup link under Live Effects to point to that folder?

Hi, I believe they only work in the 32 bit version...
Re: XPGD 2013 - How od you add a Plugin?
Tried that and several other approaches and it never shows up in the app. I cannot remember how I installed the Displacement Map plugin but have tried to duplicate what I see for that one as well and nothing seems to be working for me.
Re: XPGD 2013 - How do you install a Live Effect Plugin
I have the Displacement Map one working but cannot get the other one to work. What if I download the 32 bit version then?

artyboots got it in one, Dave:
The reason I was able to do that screen snag was because that was taken in XDP 8, which supports 32 bit.

Hi guys I have merged these two threads together so we can all discuss this in the same thread :)
Are you installing into Designer Pro? or one of the new Web Designer versions? And which version of Eye Candy are you installing?

XPGD 2013 - How do you add a Plugin? :-)
Re: XPGD 2013 - How od you add a Plugin?
Thanks to Gary and Artyboots, I got it working. The problem was that I downloaded the 64 bit version.
Now, I cannot justify the $199 for the full version (I downloaded the Eye Candy 7). I thought there was a free demo version I could use but with very limited capabilities.
I am running XPGD 2013 on Windows 8.
@Angelize: Thanks for merging. I did not see my first post so I created the 2nd one which was not necessary.
Re: XPGD 2013 - How od you add a Plugin?
There isn't a 64-bit version of P&GD2013 you must mean WD9 Premium :-)
Re: XPGD 2013 - How od you add a Plugin?
I had downloaded the 64 bit version of the plugin.
BTW: My Xara software shows up in the X86 program directory under Windows 8.
Got it working and like it but cannot justify spending $199 for it (I am not doing anything commercial with the software).

There is a PS plugin folder in the Xara Picture Editor. That is where you want to point them to. I just looked at XPGD 2013 and did not see the PS plugins folder there but I'm fairly certain that's where they go. It turns out that my instillation is damaged so I can't check it out for sure.

I was quite aware of what the thread title said, however there seemed to be some confusion about versions in some of the posts which was why I asked for clarification of both what version of Xara he was trying to install into and what version of Eye Candy he was installing :)
