Is there a way with WD9 or in general to make the full-tiling page?
My main issue is the graphic. The other pieces I believe are all doable.

Not clear what you are asking "to make the full-tiling page?"
Yes, I believe. I have posted the question before and saw the code creating the full-page image, etc. But every time I seem to deselect the "clip" option or whatever and I view my .htm's on devices outside of a wide screen it shifts the page all around. I am trying to keep the content (main body) centered all the time and contingent on the screen size, show the images scaled down or expanded. I am also open to just showing the portion of the image that is the size of the display and the remainder of the image to be seen only if there is a larger-sized screen (above 1024 or whatever).
I see, so you mean fill browser (viewport) rather than tiling (repeating) the image?
Version 9 can do this natively now via a right-click on the pasteboard, chose Fill browser window.
For earlier versions you will need to use either CSS or jquery.

Hi Sledger,
I just purchased WD9 Premium. See the pasteboard background but confused on how do you what you referenced. Tried importing an image, right-clicked and didn't see what you described.
Any clarification would be appreciated.
EZ
[1] Drop image into WD9Premium
[2] Right-click the image and chose 'Set as pasteboard background'
[3] Delete image left on page now that the pasteboard is filled
[4] Right-click on pasteboard and choose 'Pasteboard Background>>Fill Browser Window'
Preview to see it in action.
Ok, dropped image in, right-clicked, did the "set as". The whole screen became covered. Deleted the image, move the mouse to the pasteboard (outside of frame), right-clicked on pasteboard background, fill is greyed out.
How did I miss this?
So theoretically, you could drag and drop a background image that was the same proportions as a mobile device (good luck finding a common side) and then a mobile device would scale to the background image?
Have to make sure "fill" is deselected or option does not come up. Testing now...
Looks like that worked. Thanks for the post. Again, have to make sure "tiled" (not filled, as I said before) is deselected to have that option. Just tried it on 1680 monitor plus iPad. Looks good on both. Pretty cool.
Here is my example. Looks like WD9 was worth the money for that alone.

I have a follow-up question...
Is there a way to make it span across the page and have other things spanning as well? Basically can I make a top border, a menu line and then this image or do I have to get super-creative to make it happen?

Also, looked what happened when I tried to add a box for my text...spooky WD9. It was in color, then I changed the color to grey and viola...

Anything to fix that?
You should be able to draw other objects on the pasteboard background layer similar the grad filled strips in some of the background templates. You should also be able to use other bitmaps (tiled or not) and set the objects to fill the browser width (draw them much wider that the page so they look more accurate in WD). You can also use various transparency effects to blend one object into another.
Gerry
Yes, as Gerry points out you can draw on the pasteboard layer (after unlocking it) then right-click the object and choose Fill browser width
Tip: If you already have the background in place I suggest you lock that rectangle in the layer gallery to avoid accidentally moving it while messing with stretching strips.
Appreciate the posts. I apologize for potentially not asking one of my more important questions I had. I do like the image that spans the screen. It works well on all my devices which is key. Similar to the Turtle Wax example, what is the best practice to span the image while allowing it to scroll up and down? I will use the solution in certain sites but similar to the Turtle Wax example I would like to scroll down the page and have the image move with it.
Again, many thanks for the comments/insight.
Main pasteboard bg image = No tiling and no filling.
Add the top shapes as explained by GerryI and myself.
See attached, look at layer gallery and pasteboard objects.
Preview to see it working and scrolling.
I am finding my way around WD9 premium and this tiled background is just what I have been looking for, thanks for the info.
Just one thing... the default is for the 'tiled' to be greyed out and I can't find where to change it.
What am I missing ?
Thanks in advance.
It's greyed out until there is something to tile.
Weird...
Comes up fine on PC's (desktop and laptops) but as soon as I view it on iPad/iPhone, no background image anymore. Any ideas?

Yes, I'm seeing this problem with your site, however I've tested Sledgers file and published that and it displays fine on iPad, so I assume that it's something in your file which is preventing it from working.
Could you either post a cut down version of your file, or submit your file to Xara support http://support.xara.com so it can be investigated please?
I haven't investigated why the image didn't load, but it's a whopping big download for the mobile platform and absolutely huge even for a desktop - 2MB for that background image alone.
I guess the subject matter is really at the fore all over again. Don't forget to have a proper page title.
Resized it but I do not know if I'm slow but the solution is getting too deluxe and Sledger's .web file with the picture cut in to 3-pieces is not what someone else has said to do. In an attempt to keep this extremely simple, I have attached my file. I want to put 1 image, in 1 piece, for my background with potentially multiple rectangles to use in the background. I have the desire to use my site on all devices with no horizontal scrolling desires, at all, but hope/intend to have the background image scroll vertically.
I know I may be doing some things wrong but I'm hearing a lot of ways to do it.
Again, I love the 1-image, non-cut up option, with WD9 vs. a lot of WD8 or earlier way's to do it.
Really appreciate everyone's time.
The picture is NOT cut into three pieces. There is one non-tiling, non-stretching centrally placed photo and two rectangles (grouped) set to fill width.
There may be many ways to skin a cat, what I have shown is a way to have the top 'bars' stretch to fill the width of the viewport while the main background photo is central.
You are going to have to remove the blue bar off of the mouseoff layer that extends the full width of the pasteboard photo if you don't want horizontal scroll bars.Quote:

Then try them all and chose one that works for you.Quote:

There is no one single way you must do things, the beauty of Web Designer is that there are a number of ways you can go about things to find a workflow that suits you best..
