Trying to save an animation.
But when I go into my pictures folder there is a small padlock on the bottom left of the picture and it won't open as an animation.
The path I am taking is File, Export, Save as GIF then the export dialogue box comes up and I click save.
Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Trying to save an animation.
Sorry, XARA 3D6.
I don't understand why the padlock is there.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
ok first thing I'll do is move it to the right forum...

Re: Trying to save an animation.
one thing you can do - post up an example - see if we can open it

Re: Trying to save an animation.
Thanks but I'm sure I tried all connotations and only sometimes it works.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
Make that try "Export as Animation" ;)
Many applications mistakenly use Save for everything when they should use Export for formats not their native file.
If you are trying to animate a still image, that will not work. You must start with a moving image or great one using drawing tools.
Are you wanting the image to rotate or spin?

Re: Trying to save an animation.
Thanks for the help guys, think its working now.
Just as a matter of interest, is the last link I posted animated when you open it?
I know it needs a bit of work but I'm just getting back into this after a few years.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
the file you posted is not an animated gif
I have no idea what the padlock means but I do not think it has anything to do with xara 3D
when you say 'pictures folder' which pictures folder is that? - windows? - are you trying to open it in windows or with another program?
it is important to export the gif from xara 3D as an animation, because otherwise you get a non-animated gif
maybe you could post a screenshot of the pictures folder and padlock?

Re: Trying to save an animation.
ok - I see we have moved on :D
Bill - yes export, slip of the finger there

When I open this http://i43.tinypic.com/10em074.gif it seems to spin OK.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
From what I can see it looks pretty good Lanarkshire. Is every thing working for you now?
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
Yes, got the hang of it again just need to work on it a bit more although what I don't know how to do is remove the gaps in the badges.
The bits that are clear or you can see right through.
When I make it a PNG it still shows as white.
I'm not too fussed about that at the moment though.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
there's a box to tick in the export dialog as I recall 'transparency ' I think
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
I've got that bit but its the parts in the middle of the badges that I can't subtract.
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
sorry my fault misread your post :o
basically you need to make a shape that has the gaps in it
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
All I need to do now is find out how its done.
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
ok which vector editor are you using to make the shape that you are currently using
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
never used it :(
but I believe it is a 'lite' version of xara x
on that basis you would need to make the shape for the badge, by tracing all round it, which presumably is what you did
but then you need to make additional shapes for each area you want to remove - when you have done all these group all the additional ones and subtract them from the main shape
I'll go away and sse if I can find something more webster specific

Re: Trying to save an animation.
ok the only version of webster I have is ver 1 [ex-ark :D had to install in win98 mode] and that won't do what I suggested
if your arrange menu looks like the attached then your version won't either and you will need xara photo and graphic designer
[if your version arrange menu has entries like 'combine shapes', 'subtract shapes', intersect shapes', 'slice shapes' it might]

Attachment 87645
First time I've used the image uploader.

Re: Trying to save an animation.
good - looks like you can
first thing is make a shape - any shape
make another on top of it
select both - go to the arrange menu and click 'subtract shapes' - this should remove the top shape out of the bottom shape - this is the way in which you remove the bits you want to see through in your vector shape - is this making sense?
-
Re: Trying to save an animation.
It makes a bit of sense but when I make my first shape, how do I know what size or shape I need to make for the second one if I can't see the hole I need to cut out.
Does that make sense?
