Can you see, what we saw?
Out and about for a walk in the unusual warm weather, with my wife, and we came across this.
Took a picture and thought it would be interesting to see if you can spot what we saw?!
Actual picture size is 2048x1536.
So, you may need to download it and enlarge!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
I saw one of those at my Mum's on Monday - between the patio table and the fence :D
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
What really caught our attentions was that there's a whole row of them!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
not so easy to see that.. and not so often seen - must be the weather..
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
You guys talking about the spider? We get lots of those here. Over night they spin their webs everywhere this time of year. They are creepy little creatures! I always hate it when you don't see the web until its too late, then there is that frantic feeling of wondering where the spider is!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
It is unusual to see several in a row like that. Although it probably is better for ensuring capturing more prey. ;)
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
depends on the species, but a lot of spiders are not adverse to eating each other - with this species maybe not :D

Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Beautiful weather this morning again.
So, it was an opportunity to go for another walk.
Went back to 'Spider Avenue' again to see developments.
Main reason was that yesterday, one spider was in the very early process of making it's web.
Wish we had had the time to stay and watch or take some time-lapse photography.
But, sadly we didn't.
However, we were curious to see what had developed.
The attached picture shows that the spider completed it's web.
The strand at the top (most of which is not in the picture) is at least 5 feet long.
Makes you wonder how that feat was achieved in the first place?!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Spiders? You missed that 3 carat diamond at lower left!!!!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
I kept looking and couldn't see any spiders or anything until I downloaded the photo and enlarged it that way. Just as well I didn't since I am terrified of spiders. Then you posted your next photo with the web (finished?) :thanks Thanks Rik :thanks, will I have to post a snake to get you back.

Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Actually I thought there was some sort of critter in the hedge, with what looked like two slitted yellow eyes. See attached (I hope you don't mind me reposting part of your photo).
I didn't see the spider webs until I did what you suggested and looked closer ... interesting ... but of course creepy.
Great photo of the web close up, it is amazing how they manage to create these sometimes.

Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Five days later, all the spiders in post #1 are still there.
But, the spider and the web in post #8 was gone the day after I posted that picture. We think that someone walked through it.
Larry: I wish I had known your fear of spiders. Then I could have taken some close-ups to be used as therapy!
My wife also hates spiders. If there is one in the room somewhere, I HAVE to catch it and put it outside.
My wife and kids have actually held snakes. Surprisingly, I didn't even go into the shop.
So, you with spiders and me with snakes. We make quite a pair, eh?!
Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Thanks for your concern Rik, but, I can do without the close-ups thank you.
Yeah quite a pair.
I was wondering about your wife and kids, did they also hold a spider at any time or just a snake?
I remember several years ago I walked out the front door on my way to work and I felt something drop on my head. Just as before I got to my car a large spider came crawling down my face. That really freaked me out.

Re: Can you see, what we saw?
Well, over a month has gone by and we are in the middle of November.
Should we still be looking at this amount of greenery?!
And, not all, but some of the Spiders are still there.
Here's one of them!

Larry.
I was not aware that Mr Attachment 85285 had been caged by James.
So, basically you're telling me that all this time I thought I was safe - I actually wasn't. :-O
I'm going to have to start a petition to get him released. ;))

Yeah, I guess you are in big trouble unless you can get him released, but then if you do I may be in big trouble. Oh woe is me, what to do, what to do. ;))
